Braden Yonchak scored three goals and Shawnee snapped a 2-2 game scoring five goals in the third period on their way to a 7-3 win over Kingsway. Yonchak gave Shawnee a 1-0 lead at the nine minute mark of the first period scoring on the power play. Kingsway would tie the game four minutes later as Dom Salerno notched his third of the season. Shawnee however took a 2-1 lead thirteen seconds later with Ryley Berguson getting credit for his third of the year and Shawnee led 2-1 after one.

Scott Veneziale scored five goals and Black Horse used a five goal second period to defeat EEW 10-3 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, The loss was the first of the season for the EEW. With the score just 2-1 after one period, Veneziale scoring both goals for Black Horse and Sam Amon connecting on the power play for EEW on a back-hander from the slot, Black Horse took control in the second period.

Isaac Viereck scored two of his three goals in the first period as Riverfront jumped out to a 5-0 lead and went on to defeat Shawnee 8-2 at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Monday evening. Adam Peed added two goals for Riverfront and Cody Charyk scored both Shawnee goals. Peed opened the scoring at the four minute mark scoring his third of the season and Riverfront led 1-0. Viereck would tally the next two goals ninety seconds apart and the lead was 3-0. Peed would assist on Sean Conard’s third of the season to make it 4-0 and Zachary Banks would add the fifth goal in the final minute to give Riverfront a comfortable 5-0 lead after one.

The key for success to Washington Township this season will be contributions from most of their forwards, especially with the absence of a top scorer, and on Monday night six different players scored as they defeated HLV 6-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After Colin Riera scored late in the first period to give HLV a1-0 lead, Nicholas Urban tied the game at 1-1 scoring just before the buzzer. In both their wins this season Township has gotten goals from eight different players and will need that balance to compete.

Mike Cullen scored six goals and Nick Ramos added three as Clearview had little trouble in defeating Kingsway 13-3 in Tier I action at Hollydell on Friday evening. In returning to the SJHSIHL after a long absence Kingsway has struggled at the Tier I level going 0-4 and being out-scored 55-4. Not sure if the schedule could be adjusted and have a team in Tier II flop spots with Kingsway, just a thought. Also scoring for Clearview, Anthony Dellerose with two goals and Cole Dyer and Anthony Manzo with one each.

Five different players scored goals for HLV in a see-saw game with HLV scoring in the final four minutes for a 5-4 win over Clearview. Mike Cullen scored the first of his two goals on the night at the seven minute mark to give Clearview a 1-0 lead. Then in the last minute of the period HLV got the equalizer on the power play as Sam Belanger notched his second of the season to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the second period.

Nick Mattioli stopped 19 shots and EEW got second period goals from Eric Busler and Luke Hussey as EEW upset Washington Township 2-1 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Matthew Kammerer scored the lone goal in the first period to give Township a 1-0 lead. Early in the second period Alex Beig set-up Busler with the tying goal just thirty-two seconds in and late in the period Hussey would score a power play goal to give the EEW the lead heading into the final period.

Nick Mattioli stopped 24 shots and EEW scored two first period goals and they stood up as EEW defeated St. Joe’s 2-1 in action played in Voorhees on Monday night. Luke Hussey scored a power play goal just two minutes into the game to give the EEW a 1-0 lead. St Joe’s would tie the score at 1-1about six minutes later, also on the power play with Tristen Ridarelli getting the equalizer.

Washington Township built a 5-0 lead early in the second period then had to hold on at the end as Clearview rallied with four goals but could not get the fifth one past Zach Burkhardt in a thrilling 5-4 win. It’s unfortunate that this rivalry game was not played at Hollydell where the seats would have been full, neither team travels well and the crowd was moderate at best at the Skate Zone in Voorhees.

Boomer Miller scored four goals and Brian Miller added two as Cherokee defeated Kingsway 11-1. Returning to the SJHSIHL after a long absence, Kingsway chose to play Tier I and will take its lumps this year. Cherokee, taking the high road, dressed some under-classmen in an effort to not only give their younger players ice time, but to not embarrass Kingsway.
