Mike Katz scored with six seconds remaining as Moorestown came back from a 5-2 deficit to defeat EEW 6-5. Eric Schwartz led Moorestown with three goals. Each team took a turn on scoring goals in bunches. Moorestown scored the first two goals of the game as Schwartz got both goals about three minutes apart in the opening period and Moorestown led 2-0 after one. Luke Hussey got the EEW on the board early in the second period as he scored on a breakaway, the first of five straight goals by the EEW.

Nick Frangos had three goals and one assist as St Joe’s defeated Cinnaminson 5-1 in action played at Voorhees on Monday night. Frangos struggled early in the season scoring just 5 goals in the first seven games. But over the last three games he has 9 goals. Not surprising St Joe’s was 3-3-1 in those games and has now won 3 in a row.

Mike Katz had three goals and Moorestown used a four goal outburst in a five minute span of the second period to defeat Washington Township 6-2 in Tier I action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Katz and Nick Urban for Township traded goals in the first period as the game was even at 1-1 through fifteen minutes.

Matt Cozzan scored twice and Dominic Newman stopped all 14 shots as Mainland defeated Shawnee 5-0 in the late game at Voorhees on Monday night. The win improved Mainland’s record to 9-0-2 and was their sixth straight victory. Cozzan scored the lone goal of the first period at the one minute mark with Josh Handshaw getting the assist. Nate Harring made it 2-0 early in the second period with Zach Robbins and Brad Kienzle.

Thomas Janus had three goals to lead Cherokee past Washington Township 5-1 in a penalty filled contest at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Total of 33 penalties were called, with Cherokee getting 17. That means both coaches are suspended for the next game having exceeded the amount set by the league, which is 15. Janus scored a natural hat trick in the first period.

Second period goals by Mike Katz and Tyler Tavormina was enough to give Moorestown a 2-1 win over Black Horse in SJHSHL action played at the Skate Zone on Monday evening. After a scoreless first period, Moorestown was finally able to get one past Black Horse goalie Giana Rifici midway through the period as Katz scored his ninth goal of the season. Tavormina made it 2-0 moments later getting his fourth of the year.

Tim Papagno stopped all 18 shots a Cherokee defeated Clearview 6-0 in cross-over action played at the Skate Zone on Monday night. Thomas Janus led the Chiefs with two goals and one assists. Cherokee took a 1-0 lead with six minutes left in the opening period as Anthony Principato scored his fifth goal of the season. Janus made it 2-0 just two minutes later deflecting a pass from Tim Schirmer for his seventh goal of the season. The second period Cherokee would score three goals in a five minute span to break the game open, with Tim Ryan, Mike Buck on the power play and Janus’ eighth of the year getting the goals.

What ever happened to that line?? “With all due respect”? Or, more simply put, whatever happened to respect? Having covered this league for 15 years now, you hear a lot of talk back and forth. Mostly it is just that, talk, chatter, harmless banter just shy of being aggressive or outright rude. Sometimes, though, it seems players lose sight of the fact that the referees are there for a reason. They are part of the game. Are they always right? No. Will they change their mind if you argue and curse at them about the call? Heck no. I have never seen a ref change his call after a player argues his case over a penalty that he believed he did not commit.

Scott Veneziale scored twice in the third period as Black Horse edged Riverfront 5-4 in a back and forth match up played at Hollydell on Friday night. With the win Black Horse moved to within one point of first place in the National division. Dylan Richardson had a hat trick for Riverfront. Black Horse scored first in the opening period as Rich Brusco blistering shot found the top corner for a 1-0 lead, it was the first of two for Brusco.

Colin Valentine scored three goals and Austin Haslett and Brandon Balsalma added two each as Washington Township defeated Shawnee 10-0 in action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Shane Moffatt opened the scoring just two minutes into the game as Township would go on to score five goals in the period. Nick DeLisi got a rare start in nets for Township and while not tested in the first period, kept his shut out in the second period as Shawnee had some opportunities on the power play late in the game.
