Michael Verdecchio stopped 22 shots as EEW defeated HLV 4-2 in early game action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Four different players scored for EEW as they got contributions from all their lines. Alex Warner opened the scoring just three minutes into the game as HLV jumped out to a 1-0 lead. EEW would respond less than one minute later as Jesse Viggiano would get his first goal of the year with Andrew Bowen and Max Guralnick getting the assists.

Kevin Hall would give EEW the lead for good scoring in the final minute of the period on a feed from Sam Amon. Verdecchio made several key saves in the second period as HLV would have 2 power play opportunities, but failed to capitalize. Jordan Heft made it 3-1 at the three minute mark scoring an unassisted goal for EEW. Amon added his first goal of the year at the ten minute mark, also unassisted and the lead was 4-1. Colin Riera would get one back for HLV later in the period, but Verdecchio shut the door the rest of the way and EEW checked away the 4-2 win.
