Justin Bryan had three goals and assisted on two others as EEW handled Clearview III 7-1 in cross-over action played at Hollydell. Leading just 1-0 after one period on Bryan’s second goal of the season, EEW would score three times in the second period to take control of the game. Right off the opening face-off Jordan Hoeft made it 2-0 with Bryan setting up the goal with a nice pass down low. Less than two minutes later the lead was 3-0 as Bryan scored again with Hoeft and Sam Amon getting the helpers.
Then on the power play, Amon converted for EEW to push the lead to 4-0 as Bryan and Hoeft assisted on Amon’s second goal of the season. Early in the third period Jesse Viggiano banged one in off the far post, this one coming on the power play and EEW was in control at 5-0. Clearview would get their lone goal on a breakaway as Jake Sholders would score at the twelve minute mark to cut the deficit to 5-1. Seconds later EEW would get that one back as Alex Deitch would get his first goal of the season to close out the scoring.
Notes: With head Coach Pontonio coming out of retirement to take over for Paul Desrochers, EEW looks like a team that could challenge for the top spot, at worse they definitely have the best dressed coach as Pontonio has dusted off his suits and ties. Hopefully the suits he wore back in the early 2000’s have stayed retired. Next up will be a test as they play St Joe’s next Friday.
