Black Horse and EEW opened the season in Tier II on Monday night and the teams skated to a 4-4 tie. Not knowing how your team will perform and if scoring will be an issue, both teams had contributions as four different players scored goals for each team. It’s that kind of balance that will serve both teams throughout the season. Black Horse broke through first as Scott Veneziale scored at the three minute mark for a 1-0 lead. EEW would score the next two, with Kevin Hall and Justin Bryan getting unassisted goals to give EEW a 2-1 lead after one period.

Brandon Graham scored the only goal of the second period with just under five minutes remaining to tie the game at 2-2. Black Horse took the lead in the opening minute of the third period as Kyle Surynt made it 3-2. That lead lasted one minute as EEW would tie the game on a goal by Dominic Fonte. And one minute later EEW would take a 4-3 lead as Jordan Hoeft gave his team the lead that would last until just over four minutes left in the game. Bradley Brodzik would get the tying goal with Chris Kilcourse and Jeremy Wallace getting the assists. Could be a preview of things to come as both teams were evenly matched and should challenge for the top spot in Tier II.
