Washington Township scored two goals in the first five minutes of the third period to break open a 3-3 game and went on to defeat Cherokee 6-3 in JVA played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Sunday night. Joseph Urban paced the offense scoring two goals and Kyle Rink stopped 17 shots in notching his first win of the season. Cherokee led 1-0 as Trevor Ligekis converted on the power play in the opening five minutes. Christian Anderson would get the equalizer about four minutes later with Stefano Sferra getting the assist. Urban would score an unassisted goal about thirty seconds later to give Township a 2-1 lead.

Andrew Cardinali would connect for his eighth goal of the season less than two minutes later to get the Chiefs even at 2-2 but a late goal by Mario Leone, his fourth of the year put Township up 3-2 after one. Cherokee would get the lone goal of the second period as Steven Sohl tied the game at 3-3 at the six minute mark. That set the stage for the third period, which marked the first time all season that the Minutemen have scored more than two goals in the final stanza. Urban put Township up for good at the five minute mark with Sferra getting the helper and then twenty one seconds later Alex Marcucci scored an unassisted goal to give Township breathing room at 5-3. Josh Coltellaro converted on the power play in the final minutes, his second goal of the season to close out the scoring.
