The Flyers alumni extracted some revenge after last year’s last second defeat to Cherokee as they defeated the Chiefs alumni 9-4 in the exhibition game played on Sunday in front of a packed Skate Zone crowd. Scott McKay, Cherokee Coach and President, could not have envisioned this event growing so quickly in the last two years. Since incorporating the annual Jeff Burd fundraiser and including the Flyers game, this event has become a must see event though it happens over Christmas break. Jordan Grant led the Flyers alumni scoring three goals Aaron Huffnagle led the Chiefs with two goals.

The real winners are the charities that will benefit from the proceeds of this event. They include the Wounded Warriors, Wings of Steel and the Neuro Rehab Center for stroke at Magee. The Magee facility is front and center on all Flyers fans minds as they have been instrumental in assisting Flyer great Brian Propp with his recovery from a stroke. Propper was at the game, helping coach his alumni to a win. We all wish Brian a speedy recovery. Special thanks to Lou Nolan who handled the public address system with his normal class and clarity. And former NHL referee Kerry Frasier who not only officiated the game but was miked up for commentary.
