On the heels of being selected for the Junior/Senior Showcase game next Wednesday, Jared Sweeten had his best performance of the season as he stopped 43 of the 47 shots he faced to help Lower Cape May force a 4-4 tie on action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Colin Donahue paced the offense with two goals. Kingsway dominated the first period out-shooting Lower Cape 19-1, and except for two late goals in the final two minutes, Sweeten stood tall in nets. Trailing 2-0, Lower Cape capitalized on the power play as Donahue would convert on a feed from Joshua Meyer, his first of two assists on the night for Meyer along with a strong game on defense.

Jarryd Hill would score on a breakaway at the six minute marked and we were tied at 2-2. Kingsway came right back as Matt Smith would score a short-handed goal two minutes later and a 3—2 lead. JJ Fogelman would lift a backhander past Sweeten late in the period to make it 4-2. Sweeten would shut the door the rest of the way, but would save his biggest save for later in the third. After Ryan Hill scored a power play goal at the ten minute mark to make it 4-3, Kingsway would continue the offensive pressure, but could not cash in. With just over four minutes left in the game, Donahue and Meyer broke in 2-on1 with Donahue getting the equalizer, his team leading 10th of the season to knot the game at 4-4. Just about one minute later, Vincenzo Salerno had a breakaway but Sweeten stoned him to preserve the tie.
