Sam Libetti had a natural hat trick as Cherokee defeated Washington Township 6-2 to force a deciding game in the SJHSHL double elimination tournament. The Chiefs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Boomer Miller and Anthony Salvatore. Township would bounce back in the second period as Jared Mara and Joe Crincoli would score minutes apart to tie the game at 2-2. With about four minutes left in the period Jeremy Ambrose made a great cross-ice pass to Libetti who banged home his first of three on the night and the Chiefs had the lead for good at 3-2. Libetti and Ambrose would hook up again on their next shift and the lead was 4-2 after two periods.

Libetti would complete his natural hat trick at the eight minute mark of the third period, once again on a feed from Ambrose and the lead was 5-2. Miller would add a power play goal late in the period and the Chiefs would survive elimination. These two teams will meet on Friday night to determine the champ.
