As we come to an end of the 2015-2016 season had a few final thoughts and observations about this season. Does anyone remember that just a few years ago Kingsway went winless and now the last 2 years have turned that program around? They took their lumps and beatings by joining the Tier I division, but it has paid off and they have also grown their fan base. With their win on Friday night against Township, Cherokee has become one of the most successful high school programs in our region. Love them or hate them, you cannot argue with their accomplishments, winning 6 out of the last 7 titles is a feat that might not be duplicated. Coach McKay has built a strong program and his team looks even stronger for next season.

The league needs to continue its march towards purity, this season we saw Eastern break away from Cherry Hill and enjoy a very successful season. Cherry Hill also enjoyed success and hopefully next season can move up to Tier I. Shawnee continues to rebuild their program and possibly could join Tier I in a few seasons. Would like to see the league play five minute overtime during the regular season, 3-on-3. Still give each team one point, but I think it adds some excitement. The amount of ties has grown over the last few years, between the two Tiers, from a low of 22 ties 3 seasons ago, to a high of 40 ties this season. Clearview has had the most ties over the last two seasons with 10.

Communication needs to improve between club reps and teams, too many times there has been a breakdown in communication of information that cannot and should not happen. Finally, the NJ/DE Flyers Cup, we need to fully support this tournament, with the 3rd annual coming up later this month, and having 5 teams invited, strong attendance is needed at all of the games. Let’s keep the cup in New Jersey!!!
