Jarrett Wharton had three goals and two assists as Washington Township defeated Lower Cape May 9-2 at the Skate Zone. The nine goals was a season high for Township as they launched 52 shots. Township led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Donovan Haslet and Joe Crincoli. Crincoli’s second goal of the game midway through the second period had the lead to 3-0. Wharton would get his first of the night with just under four minutes remaining and Township took a 4-0 lead into the third period.
Jaryd Hill would score an unassisted goal in the opening seconds of the third for Lower Cape to make it 4-1. Just over one minute later Wharton would get his second of the night and the lead was 5-1. Hill’s second of the night on the power play cut the lead to 5-2 at the five minute mark. But goals by John Schuck ninety seconds later and Haslett and Wharton thirty-two seconds apart had the lead to 8-2. Schuck would get his second of the night in the final five minutes as Township would enjoy its finest offensive output of the season.
