Nick Shute scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Kingsway 6-1 in the final regular season game and a rare home game for the Minutemen. The six goals is the second highest offensive output for Township and they are 3-0-1 in their last four games and peaking at the right time with playoffs starting. Shute made it 1-0 at the eight minute mark, putting home a rebound. Joe Crincoli made it 2-0 late in the period with Stefano Sferra and Andrew McGinley assisting. Kyle Rink got the start in nets for Township and stopped 12 of thirteen shots. Early in the second period Joey Ricchezza would set-up Shute for his second goal and the lead was 3-0.

Mike Moss broke a 2-2 game with ten minutes left in the game as Team Simmonds edged Team Giroux 3-2 in last night’s Junior/Senior Showcase game at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Having participated in the last few drafts Coach McKay has never won in this format, and while he wouldn’t admit that it bothered him, I got to believe that the success he has enjoyed over the last 8 years, not winning this game was probably bothering him to a degree. Trailing 2-0 on goals by Kevin Troy of St Joe’s and Zachary Faust of Black Horse, Team Simmonds would get a late goal in the period as Cody Charyk from Shawnee would score with Moss and Vinny Salerno getting the assists.

Mike Moss has been a four year starter for Kingsway varsity program and has amassed 89 goals and 54 assists during his time with Kingsway and last night he scored six goals as Kingsway defeated Lower Cape May 8-2 in action played at Hollydell. Kingsway program returned to SJHSHL in 2013-2014 and Mike was a freshman on that team that did not win a game, but over the last 3 years Kingsway has grown into a successful program thanks to the leadership of Moss along with the staff led by Coach Francis and Mike Messina and will be a stiff challenge for Black Horse for the title.
