Jake Stone stopped all 19 shots as Cherokee defeated Kingsway 3-0 in JVA action played at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Sunday night. Sean Young scored the only goal of the first period with Tony Breen getting the assist. Breen was just recently named SJIceHockey’s player of the year in JVB. Kingsway had two power play opportunities in the period, but Stone was equal to the challenge as the Dragons would fire 10 shots but could not get one past Stone.
After a scoreless second period, Kingsway had another opportunity on the power play, but Breen scored a short-handed goal to give the Chiefs a 2-0 lead. Cherokee would control most of the period as they got off 20 shots on goal and at the eleven-minute mark Connor Ryan would ice the game scoring his ninth goal of the season and the Chiefs would improve to 11-4 on the year.
