Griffin Conroy stopped all 20 shots and Andrew Jordan scored two goals as Moorestown defeated Cherokee 4-0 in the Tier I championship played before a packed house at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees. Defensively Moorestown was flawless keeping the slot clear and covering the rebounds as Coach Sporer said after the game, "Our six guys played tremendous and stayed disciplined tonight and Conroy was on his game". After a scoreless first period, Jordan gave Moorestown the only goal they would need putting home a goal down low at the five minute mark with Zach Marzo and Charles Selverian getting the assists.
Ryan O’Connell would be on the door step on the right side to put home a shot by Jacob Selverian with less than three minutes left in the period and a 2-0 lead. Zachary McEvoy scored with fifteen seconds left in the period and the Quakes took a 3-0 lead into the third period. No team plays better defense than Moorestown with a three goal lead. Cherokee would have back to back power plays midway through the period but Conroy kept them off the board, and Jordan scored into an empty net in the final two minutes and the celebration was on.
Notes: Team captain and leading scorer Luke Dobbs dressed but could not play because of an injury, but Coach Sporer had him on the ice in the final seconds to feel the emotion and be a part of the celebration. Now on to the Flyers Cup.
