Mainland rallied from a 5-2 deficit early in the third period scoring four straight goals, three coming on the power play as they defeated HLV 6-5 and reached the JVB Championship game. The first period was all Mainland as they led 2-0 on goals by Owen Haugan and Jim Murray. The second period was all HLV as they tallied four goals, with Rob Pensabene, Daniel Flagg, Julian Jiminez and Daniel Plunkett scored and took a 4-2 lead into the third period. Nick Garbarino scored in the first minute to push the lead to 5-2 and HLV seemed in control.

But the Mainland power play kicked into gear as first Marc Arsenis scored to make it 5-3 just twenty eight seconds after Garbarino’s goal. Then Jacob Morrison made it 5-4 at the five minute mark and three minutes later, once again on the power play, Jack Hassett would tie the game at 5-5. HLV managed to kill a penalty at the ten minute mark, but two minutes later they were short once again and Hassett’s second of the night proved to be the game winner.
