Deaglan Kelly scored with thirteen seconds left in the game as St Joe’s rallied from a 4-2 deficit to win 5-4 and move into the JVB championship. Kelly, who also skates on the varsity team, capped off the rally for St Joe’s. Cherokee had built the 4-2 lead through two periods and seemed in control as we started the third period. Alexandra Mardell, who led St Joes, scored the first goal with less than four minutes left in the opening period. Cherokee responded as Mike Trampe would tie the game just eleven seconds later. Cherokee would take a 2-1 lead as Andre Amezquita scored in the final minute of the period.

Mardell’s second goal of the night midway through the second period tied the game at 2-2. Tony Breen would score two goals over the next four minutes, one coming on the power play and the Chiefs took a 4-2 lead into the third period. Vince Sabato scored an early goal to make it 4-3. And at the four minute mark St Joe’s would get the equalizer as Ryan Convery scored and we were tied at 4-4. With overtime looming, Kelly deposited the game winner and ended the season for the Chiefs.
