Brendan Forrest scored one minute into the overtime period to give the Cherokee Chiefs a 3-2 win over Cherry Hill East in the JVA championship game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The game was a very tight checking, intense contest where neither team could gain an advantage. Brian Cutler would give Cherry Hill a 1-0 lead in the first but goals by Kameron Katsanos and Connor Ray gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead late in the second period. Cutler would put home his second of the night late in the period and we were tied at 2-2.

Brian Cutler’s second goal of the night snapped a 3-3 tie and gave Cherry Hill East a 4-3 win over Eastern in JVA playoff action. East will move on to play Cherokee in the championship. The game was interesting as neither team would score in the opening period. And in the second period they would combine for six goals. Jordan Stein would give Cherry Hill a 1-0 lead in the opening minute of the second period. James Vona and Cutler would score the next two goals as East took a 2-1 lead.

Cherry Hill East used strong defense and solid goaltending to defeat HLV 2-1 and win the Tier II championship once again. This is the third year in a row for the Cougars. Most of the game was tight checking and strong defense on both sides as neither wanted to make a mistake. Dylan Altomonte scored six minutes into the game to give Cherry Hill a 1-0 lead as his shot from the point through a screen found the net. That lead lasted less than two minutes as HLV would respond with a goal by Pierce Wickenden as he would be planted on the doorstep and put home a rebound of a shot by Tyler Grey to tie the game at 1-1.

Eight different players scored for Cherry Hill East as they skated past Eastern 8-3 in JVA action last night in Voorhees. With the win Cherry Hill improved to 13-1-1 and increased its first-place lead to three points over Moorestown. Sean Pomerania gave the Vikings their only lead of the night scoring six minutes into the opening period. Cherry Hill would respond scoring three goals in a spin of just over one minute. After Brian Cutler tied the game at 1-1, Connor Bryne and James Vona scored goals twenty seconds apart and Cherry Hill led 3-1.

Nine different players scored goals for Cherry Hill East as they opened their first round playoff game with a 10-0 win against Riverfront in late game action at Voorhees on Monday night. The Cougars used a six goal second period to break open the game leading just 2-0 after one period on goals by Sean McKenna on the power play and Tristan Laperriere, Cherry Hill score early and often in the second stanza. Ben Isakovich connected at the three minute mark to make it 3-0 and less than one minute later Brian Cutler scored to make it 4-0. Forty-three seconds later Tom Papa would get the first of two on the night and a 5-0 lead.

Jake Frankenfield scored eighteen seconds into overtime to give Team Simmonds a 5-4 win over Team Giroux in the Junior-Senior showcase game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Frankenfield had two goals on the night and won the game’s MVP, donated and presented by Training Aspects Ki Vaks and Rob Jost. Team Giroux took a 2-0n lead on goals by Austin Wilk and Sam Libetti. Team Simmonds would respond with goals from Ryan Feist late in the first period and seconds later a tying goal by Anthony Poppalardo. Team Simmonds would take a 3-2 lead as Mike Liberty from Mainland would score in the second period.

Elliott Schon scored three goals as Cherry Hill East defeated St Joe’s 9-2 in the season finale for both teams at Hollydell on Friday night. St Joe’s took the lead scoring a power play goal at the eight minute mark with Cooper Root getting his seventh of the year. That lead lasted thirty seconds as Brian Cutler would tie the game at 1-1 with his first of the season. The teams would trade goals in the opening three minutes of the second period after Ben Snyder gave East a 2-1 lead, St Joe’s Kevin Glass would rip one home to tie the game at 2-2. That would be all the scoring for St Joe’s as East would score the next seven.

The draft was held last night for the Junior-Senior Showcase game which will be held this Sunday night at the SkateZone in Voorhees at 7:25. Coach McKay from Cherokee won the right to pick first and he choose Jeremy Ambrose. Coach Glick selected Sam Libetti; it was the first time that two players from the same team, Cherokee were picked first by each team. Listed below in order are the teams, Team Simmonds is Coach McKay and Team Giroux is Coach Glick:

Nick Manning stopped all 20 shots as HLV defeated Cherry Hill East 2-0 and moved one point ahead of Clearview for first place in Tier II. Matt Kilkenny would score the only goal Manning would need at the three minute mark of the first period, it was Kilkenny’s seventh of the season, each team would have a power play opportunity but neither could capitalize. Samuel Mohnacs would make it 2-0 late in the second period as Brady Swain and Samuel Swain got the assists.
