Michael Klemm scored with seven minutes left in the third period as Cherokee defeated Moorestown 2-1 and advanced to the JVA Title game. Tony Breen had scored the only goal of the first period to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Moorestown scored the only goal of the second period, as Anthony DeFrancisco scored with less than three minutes left to tie the score at 1-1. Moorestown would have two power play opportunities in the period but failed to take advantage as Jake Stone was strong in nets for the Chiefs.

Griffin Conroy stopped all 20 shots and Andrew Jordan scored two goals as Moorestown defeated Cherokee 4-0 in the Tier I championship played before a packed house at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees. Defensively Moorestown was flawless keeping the slot clear and covering the rebounds as Coach Sporer said after the game, "Our six guys played tremendous and stayed disciplined tonight and Conroy was on his game".  After a scoreless first period, Jordan gave Moorestown the only goal they would need putting home a goal down low at the five minute mark with Zach Marzo and Charles Selverian getting the assists.

Sam Berger scored a power play goal in overtime as the Cherokee Chiefs rallied to beat Moorestown 4-3 and force a deciding game next Monday night at Voorhees. Trailing 3-2 in the third period Cherokee would get the tying goal from their leader Jeremy Ambrose. The teams traded goals in the first period with Moorestown taking a 1-0 lead at the six minute mark on a goal by Andrew Jordan and six minutes later Sam Libetti scored for the Chiefs. Darren Ambrose gave Cherokee a 2-1 lead midway through the second period but Moorestown would capitalize on the power play just over two minutes later and we entered the third all even at 2-2.

We are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. The tradition continues here at SJIceHockey as we honor the best of 2018-2019 season in the SJHSHL. Charles Banquier scored in the shootout as Moorestown defeated Cherokee 3-2 and advanced into the SJHSHL Finals. The Chiefs will now face Washington Township in an elimination game with the winner playing Moorestown in the finals. Jacob Bianchi gave Cherokee a 1-0 lead at the seven minute mark with Dustin Patterson and Connor Ray getting the assists. Moorestown would tie the game at 1-1 as Christian Romeo scored just twenty three seconds later.

Luke Dobbs scored three minutes into overtime to give Moorestown a 3-2 win over Eastern in the opening round of the playoffs last night at Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Kevin Wildish scored on the power play early in the second period to give Moorestown a 1-0 lead. That lead lasted less than one minute as Jacob Findley would tie the game at 1-1. Elias Sulpizio and Luke Riley would exchange goals three minutes apart and we were tied at 2-2 heading into the third period.

Jake Frankenfield scored eighteen seconds into overtime to give Team Simmonds a 5-4 win over Team Giroux in the Junior-Senior showcase game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Frankenfield had two goals on the night and won the game’s MVP, donated and presented by Training Aspects Ki Vaks and Rob Jost. Team Giroux took a 2-0n lead on goals by Austin Wilk and Sam Libetti. Team Simmonds would respond with goals from Ryan Feist late in the first period and seconds later a tying goal by Anthony Poppalardo. Team Simmonds would take a 3-2 lead as Mike Liberty from Mainland would score in the second period.

The draft was held last night for the Junior-Senior Showcase game which will be held this Sunday night at the SkateZone in Voorhees at 7:25. Coach McKay from Cherokee won the right to pick first and he choose Jeremy Ambrose. Coach Glick selected Sam Libetti; it was the first time that two players from the same team, Cherokee were picked first by each team. Listed below in order are the teams, Team Simmonds is Coach McKay and Team Giroux is Coach Glick:

Senior captain Jeremy Ambrose scored with 36 seconds left in the game to give Cherokee a 2-1 win over rival Moorestown in late game action in Voorhees. The win gives the Chiefs the number one seed heading into the tournament. Moorestown is four points behind with one game left, the Chiefs have completed their regular season. Sam Berger scored the only goal of the first period as the Chiefs led 1-0, Moorestown would have a few power play opportunities but Chiefs goalie Andrew Lavdas kept them at bay.

The nominees for the 2018-2019 Junior-Senior Showcase game have been released. The game will be played on Sunday, January 27th at the Voorhees Skate Zone at 7:00. Tickets are $5. On Thursday, January 24th we will conduct a live draft on SJIceHockey.com beginning at 7:00. The coaches will be Scott McKay from Cherokee and Mike Glick from Washington Township. Each coach must select at least one player from each team. Please come out and support these players! Congratulations to all the nominees. Here are your 2018-2019 nominees...
