Samuel Swain scored two goals and Nick Manning stopped 27 shots as HLV defeated St Joe’s 6-1 at Voorhees. With the win HLV improved to 4-0 on the season. Matt Savvas and Swain scored two minutes apart in the first period to give HLV a 2-0 lead. Swain got his second goal of the night scoring early into the second period to make it 3-0. Manning was at his best as St Joe’s had back to back power plays, but could not get one by Manning and we headed into the final period with HLV up 3-0.

Anthony Poppalardo had a hat trick, including the game winner with four minutes left in the game as Shawnee edged Moorestown 5-4 in Tier I action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Shawnee jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period on goals by Poppalardo, Robert Falese and Gavin Bastarache. Zachary Marzo scored the Quakes goal. Moorestown would rally in the second period as William Eigenrauch, with Marzo assisting, scored at the nine minute mark to bring the Quakes to within 3-1. Poppalardo would respond less than three minutes later to push the lead back to two goals.

Seven different players scored for Clearview as they defeated St Joe’s 7-3 in Tier II action played at Hollydell. Ross Higgins stopped 18 shots in net for the View as they evened their record at 2-2. St Joe’s jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just twenty five seconds into the game as Deaglan Kelly scored from in close. Steve Lento would tie the game at 1-1 just less than two minutes later. Each team would have two power play opportunities to break the tie but neither could capitalize and we headed into the second period all even.

Williamstown converted on two power play opportunities and went on to defeat Kingsway 3-1 in Tier I action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Steve Poulin wasted little time as he scored right off the opening face-off as the Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead just twelve seconds into the game. Kingsway would tie the score at 1-1 at the eight minute mark as Jason Player would score his fifth goal of the season. Williamstown would take the lead for good as Enrique Espinoza scored on the power play with Poulin getting the assist and the Braves took a 2-1 lead into the second period.

St Joe’s built a 6-2 lead after two periods and held on for a 6-4 win over Mainland as Chris Corsaro scored two goals. Anthony Santa Maria led Mainland with a hat trick. Santa Maria opened the scoring four minutes into the game as Mainland took a 1-0 lead. St Joe’s would get goals from Corsaro and Cooper Root thirty nine seconds apart to take a 2-1 lead at the nine minute mark. Mainland would tie the game at 2-2 less than one minute later on a goal by Derek Michael, but Ryan Laserre scored late in the period to give St Joe’s a 3-2 advantage after one period.

John Gallen and Calvin Aliferov each scored two goals as Cherry Hill defeated Riverfront 7-0 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday evening. Leading just 1-0 after one period on Gallen’s first goal, Cherry Hill used a four goal second period to blow the game open. Ben Snyder and Aliferov scored goals two minutes apart in the opening four minutes to put the Cougars up 3-0. Goals by Joe Pearson and Gallen, again two minutes apart at the five minute mark had the lead to 5-0.

Brady Swain scored twice as HLV held on to defeat Clearview 2-1 in SJHSHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Nicholas Manning stopped 14 shots in goal for HLV. HLV scored the only goal of the first period with Swain converting a feed from Nicholas Kruzdio. We stayed that way until late in the second period with the puck dumped into the offensive zone for HLV, Clearview goalie Matt D’Alonzo, who was outstanding in nets, raced to try and freeze the puck, Swain beat him to the puck and after initially shooting wide on the open net, Swain quickly followed up his shot and tucked the puck in on the short side and a 2-0 lead.

Jacob Feliciano had a hat trick as Egg Harbor Twp defeated Kingsway 7-6 in the season opener for both clubs played at Hollydell. Jason Player scored four goals to lead the Kingsway attack. Kingsway led 1-0 as Robert Licciardello scored at the eight minute mark of the first period but two goals by EHT in a fifteen second span, one by Feliciano and a goal by Ryan Robertson gave EHT a 2-1 lead after one. Player would tie the score at 2-2 early in the second period and the teams would trade goals over the next few minutes with Dylan Faulhaber giving EHT a 3-2 lead only to see Player tie the game at 3-3. Feliciano and Player would exchange goals three minutes apart late in the period and EHT would get a short-handed goal from Faulhaber, his second of the night and EHT took a 5-4 lead into the third period.

Matthew Savvas scored two goals and Nick Manning stopped 18 shots as HLV opened their season with a 3-2 victory over Clearview at Hollydell. Savvas gave HLV a 1-0 lead ten minutes into the game. The View would tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Luke Colella with just twelve seconds left in the period. HLV would capitalize on their only power play chance of the night early in the second period as Samuel Mohnacs would score his first of the year with Savvas getting the assist.

Jacob Findley scored three goals and Max Brzozowski stopped 33 shots as the Eastern Vikings doubled up the Moorestown Quakes 6-3 in the league opener for both clubs. Moorestown failed to convert on eight power play opportunities with Brzozowski coming up big on several good scoring chances. The Vikings led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Findley and Kristopher Zapata in the final two minutes, the goals came 38 seconds apart. Findley made it 3-0 in the opening minute of the second period and just about two minutes later Luke Riley notched his first goal of the season and the lead was 4-0.
