Cherokee built a 4-1 late into the second period and held off a hard charging Washington Township team for a 5-3 victory. The win puts the Chiefs in the finals against Moorestown, on Monday night. Jacob Bianchi scored twice and Jake Frankenfield added four assists to pace the offense. Chad Castorina led Township with two goals. Castorina put Township up 1-0 six minutes into the game as he scored down low putting home a shot by Matt Kennedy. The Chiefs responded on the power play as Bianchi got his first of the night three minutes later. Cherokee would build its lead over a six minute span of the second period.

Salesainum is the defending champ and hopes to defend their title. The Jersey teams are hoping to bring the Cup back to New Jersey. The opening round games will begin on Monday, March 11th at Voorhees with Eastern playing Washington Township and Shawnee playing St Marks. The Championship game will be played at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday March 17th at 11:00AM. Congrats to Egg Harbor for being selected for the first time! Good luck to all! The NJ/DE Flyers cup teams have been selected and seeded and here are the teams:

Ross Higgins stopped all 17 shots and Thomas Rockey’s power play goal in the second period stood up as Clearview defeated Mainland 1-0 in the opening round playoff game for the View. After a scoreless first period, Clearview went on the power play the opening minute of the second period and Rockey wasted little time in giving the View a 1-0 lead. Higgins was tested at the five minute mark as Mainland would have a two man advantage for just over one minute but could not get one by Higgins.

Egg Harbor Township scored three goals in the second period and hung on for a 4-3 victory over Shawnee, the win advances EHT into the Tier 1 B finals against Kingsway. The teams traded goals in the first period, Tyler Murray gave Shawnee a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game, but EHT would getting the tying goal from Zachary Feliciano on the power play with just over three minutes left in the period. Early in the second period Riley Rudolph would give EHT the lead for good and just under one minute later William Bahnak would make it 3-1 for the Eagles.

Harrison Rauh scored three goals and Andrew McGinley added two as Washington Township defeated Eastern 6-3 in the second round of the playoffs and eliminated the Vikings from contention. The first period was a scoring fest as the teams combined for seven goals. Sean Pomerantz opened the scoring for the Vikings as the freshman forward scored his first of two on the night to give Eastern a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game. Township would bounce back scoring two goals in less than one minute.

Charles Banquier scored in the shootout as Moorestown defeated Cherokee 3-2 and advanced into the SJHSHL Finals. The Chiefs will now face Washington Township in an elimination game with the winner playing Moorestown in the finals. Jacob Bianchi gave Cherokee a 1-0 lead at the seven minute mark with Dustin Patterson and Connor Ray getting the assists. Moorestown would tie the game at 1-1 as Christian Romeo scored just twenty three seconds later.

Corey Owens scored in the third overtime to give Kingsway a 3-2 win over Shawnee in SJHSHL action played at Hollydell on Friday night. With the win Kingsway moves into the championship bracket and will await the winner of the EHT-Shawnee game. The Dragons jumped out to a 2-0 lead with Nick Bellapigna and Mike Ayars scoring goals in the opening period. Freshman goalie Mike Lieze got the start in nets for Kingsway and stopped thirty two shots and kept Shawnee off the board until the six minute mark of the second period when David Hoftiezer would break through for Shawnee to cut the lead to 2-1.

Egg Harbor Township built a 5-0 lead through two periods and held off a charging Williamstown team and defeated the Braves 6-3 in late game action at Hollydell. The loss ended the season for Williamstown. Blaze Tommi led EHT with two goals. EHT took control with a three goal first period with Tommi scoring just thirty six seconds into the game. Four minutes later EHT would capitalize on the power play as Zachary Feliciano scored and the lead was 2-0. Just over two minutes later Tommi made it 3-0 as EHT was clicking offensively, launching 12 shots in the period and back-checking and limited the Braves to just four shots.

Robert Falese scored two goals as Shawnee defeated Williamstown 4-1 in the opening round of the double elimination tournament played in Voorhees on Monday evening. Falese opened the scoring with Williamstown on the power play, less than five minutes into the first period. The short-handed goal gave Shawnee the early 1-0 lead. Falese would make it 2-0 late in the period with David Hoftiezer getting the assist. Williamstown would have three opportunities on the power play but could not get one past Shay Perry.
