Nick Manning stopped all 20 shots as HLV defeated Cherry Hill East 2-0 and moved one point ahead of Clearview for first place in Tier II. Matt Kilkenny would score the only goal Manning would need at the three minute mark of the first period, it was Kilkenny’s seventh of the season, each team would have a power play opportunity but neither could capitalize. Samuel Mohnacs would make it 2-0 late in the second period as Brady Swain and Samuel Swain got the assists.

The Eastern Vikings would score seven goals in the second period, three coming from senior forward Max Kuznetsov, as they went on to defeat the Williamstown Braves 10-3 last night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The Vikings were short-handed in nets and junior forward Vincent Roustas stepped up and made the start in nets and got his first varsity win! The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period with Kristopher Zappata giving the Vikings an early 1-0 lead, but the Braves getting the tying goal on the power play from Dylan Gurovich late in the period. Zappata would get his second of the night one minute into the second period and less than one minute later senior forward Conor Riley would score his team high 20th of the season to give the Vikings a 3-1 lead.

Matt Lynch stopped 34 shots and six different players scored goals as Washington Township defeated Shawnee 6-2 in the early game played in Voorhees on Monday night. Township took control early getting goals from Harrison Rauh and Andrew McGinley to take a 2-0 lead three minutes into the game. Shawnee would control the play the rest of the period but Lynch made several big saves down low to keep Shawnee off the board. Early in the second period Anthony Poppalardo had a breakaway for Shawnee but Lynch stoned him to keep it 2-0.

HLV entered the third period trailing 3-1 against Clearview and would score two goals in the first six minutes to earn a 3-3 tie on senior night for the View. HLV would dominate the first period in shots-14-2 but the View took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Steve Lento, his seventh of the season. That lead became 2-0 early in the second period as Chase Dyar connected at the three minute mark. HLV would get on the board three minutes later as Pierce Wickenden scored his eighth of the season to make it 2-1. Thomas Rockey scored in the final five minutes to give the View a 3-1.

Chad Castorina scored three goals and Andrew McGinley added two as Washington Township defeated Egg Harbor Township 6-1 in late game action played at Hollydell. Castorina scored the only goal of the first period on a feed from McGinley as they broke in 2-on-1. Early in the second period Castorina scored down low to make it 2-0. EHT would put some pressure offensively but Township goalie Matt Lynch would keep EHT off the board, for the game Lynch stopped 33 shots.

Since being elevated to play on the top line, sophomore forward Jack Ellis has produced especially tonight as he recorded a hat trick to pace Cherokee over Williamstown 10-0 in Friday night action played at Hollydell. Mike Andes and Jake Kelley added two goals each and Jeremy Ambrose added a goal and three assists. Andes and Kelley scored goals eight seconds apart early in the first period as the Chiefs took a 2-0 lead. Two late goals in the period, one by Ellis and the other by Dustin Patterson, both coming with the Chiefs down a man, had the lead to 4-0.

The nominees for the 2018-2019 Junior-Senior Showcase game have been released. The game will be played on Sunday, January 27th at the Voorhees Skate Zone at 7:00. Tickets are $5. On Thursday, January 24th we will conduct a live draft on SJIceHockey.com beginning at 7:00. The coaches will be Scott McKay from Cherokee and Mike Glick from Washington Township. Thomas Rockey scored two goals as Clearview had little trouble in skating by Mainland 7-1 in a rare Wednesday night game at Hollydell. The View jumped out to a 2-0 lead just two minutes into the game. First Lue Froio would get his second goal of the season just thirty three seconds into the game. Just over one minute later Connor Reagan would give the View a 2-0 lead as the freshman scored his fifth of the season.

Harrison Rauh scored two first period goals to pace Washington Township to a 6-2 win over Shawnee. Township would launch 16 shots as they took control early and never looked back. Rauh scored his two goals midway through the period with both goals coming less than three minutes apart. Anthony Lonasco would add a goal late in the period, his first of two on the night and Township took a 3-0 lead into the second period. After a scoreless second period Township would expand their lead to 4-0 early in the third period as Lonasco connected for his 10th of the season.

On a night when Cherry Hill East honored their graduating senior class with five varsity and three JV players, it was the underclassmen that came through as East defeated St Joe’s 4-2 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. John Gallen gave East a 1-0 midway through the first period with Thomas Papa getting the assist. Less than two minutes later Elliott Schon would score his tenth goal of the season and East led 2-0. St Joe’s goalie Mike Neal was keeping his team in the game as East outshot St Joe’s 14-4. Cooper Root would put St Joe’s on the board late in the period connecting for his sixth goal of the season and despite being outplayed, St Joe’s trailed just 2-1 heading into the second period.
