We are just starting November and so far it’s been an interesting start. First we have a new team from Philadelphia, PPACS. They have struggled so far as was to be expected. They have a young team and will continue to develop. I mentioned in a previous article that JVA was an option, and while it was discussed, the club reps were adamant in not being placed there, so we apologize if this caused any disturbance. The biggest and most noticeable change however was a rule change that USA Hockey came out with on October 30th and it reads as follows:
Effective October 30, 2019 any player or team official who uses language that falls under Rule 601(e.3), shall be assessed an automatic match penalty. The officials are required to immediately file a game report and the offending player/team official is suspended until a hearing is conducted by the Affiliate Association. If the incident was reported to but not heard by the officials, the officials are required to notify the coach of the offending team and submit an incident report immediately after the game.
The new rule was distributed at the league meeting on Tuesday and each club is required to have their Coach review and sign a form that this was communicated to the team. Some clubs are going to suggest players to sign as well. So all players should be aware of what they say especially if you are not happy with a call or giving up a goal.
Finally some early surprises Egg Harbor Twp has been near the top of the division, Riverfront after struggling last year and not winning a game has already two wins under their belt. Washington Township JVA is undefeated, while the varsity looks to make up numerous games having just played two so far.
