Michael Tussey stopped 27 shots as Washington Township defeated Moorestown 2-1 in playoff action in Voorhees. The loss eliminated Moorestown from the double elimination tournament. Offensively Township started slowly as they were out-shot 14-4 in the first period, but Tussey would just yield one, as Nick Jarmaine would score on a shot from the slot. Township would tie the score at 1-1 when Nicholas Cimorelli would see his shot from the point go through a screen and into the net, so despite being outplayed Township entered the second period all even.

Andrew Matlack on a nice feed from Andrew McGinley would score early in the second period to give Township a 2-1 lead. This was by far the best second period for Township in a while as they dominated in shots at 19-5 and had 3 power play opportunities, including a 2 man advantage but failed to capitalize as Moorestown goalie Jack Avis refused to give up another goal. Usually when these opportunities slip by, you will see the other team capitalize, but Township stayed disciplined in the third period, played defense first and with Tussey playing confident, Moorestown could not get the tying goal. Next up is a date with EHT at Hollydell on Friday night.
