Elliott Schon scored with four minutes left in the third period to snap a 4-4 game and give Cherry Hill East a 5-4 win over Cherokee in the JVA Championship game played on Sunday night in Voorhees. John Gallen led the East offense with two goals. Cherry Hill built a 3-0 lead on two first period goals by Gallen and a power play goal by Tristan Laperriere with four minutes left in the second period. The Chiefs came storming back scoring two goals in a span of twenty seconds with Justin Sroczyk and Michael Klemm getting the goals and Cherokee was back in the game at 3-2 after two.

Trailing 3-2 entering the third period Clearview scored twice, including the game winner from Robert Gehringer with just under five minutes remaining in regulation to give Clearview a 4-3 win and the JVB Championship at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Sunday night. Kingsway had the lead for most of the first two periods, after Clearview scored at the six minute mark, Kingsway got goals from Bobby Johnson and Robbie Licciardello to take a 2-1 lead after the first period. Dominic Mendek, with John Francis getting the assist gave Kingsway a 3-1 lead with two minutes left in the second period.
Fisher Sellers had a hat trick as Salesianum defeated Eastern 7-3 in the NJ/DE Flyers Cup final. The win gave Salesianum their second consecutive Flyers Cup. Sellers scored the only goal of the first period as Salesianum led 1-0. The Sallies broke the game open in the second period scoring four goals, taking a 5-0 lead before the Vikings scored on the power play with Jack McGrath getting the goal. Cameron Bergeman made it 6-1 early in the third period, before Max Kouznetsov would get two Vikings goals to make it 6-3. Eastern could not get any closer and Sellers iced the game in the final minutes.
Max Kouznetsov had four goals and Conor Riley added a goal and three assists as Eastern defeated Cherokee 7-4 in semi-final action in the NJ/DE Flyers Cup held at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Jeremy Ambrose led Cherokee with two goals and one assist, Sam Libetti added three assists. The Chiefs led 3-1 after the first period on two goals by Ambrose and a power play goal by Jake Bianchi. Vincent Roustas scored the lone Eastern goal. The second period the Vikings got an early power play goal from Kouznetsov to make it 3-2 and then Kouznetsov fed the puck to Kristen Massanova three minutes later and we were tied at 3-3.
Vinny Salerno scored on the power play early in the third period to snap a 1-1 game and Kingsway went on to upset Moorestown 3-1 in the NJ/DE Flyers cup. With the win Kingsway will meet Salesianum in the semi-finals. After a scoreless first period, Kevin Hillman scored twenty three seconds into the second period as he beat Mark Higginbotham down low. That would be the only goal Higginbotham would surrender. Just seventeen seconds later JJ Fogelman, on a pass from Corey Owens, blasted a shot from the point and into the net to tie the game at 1-1.
Jeremy Ambrose scored three goals and Sam Libetti added a goal and four assists as Cherokee defeated Delaware Military Academy 11-4 in the first round of the NJ/DE Flyers Cup played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Alex Maglio led DMA with a hat trick. Forward Patrick Dugan chipped in two goals for Cherokee his first at the varsity level with Coach McKay giving him a chance after a strong JV Season. The teams traded goals in the first six minutes with Mike Deford opening the scoring for the Chiefs just two minutes into the game. Maglio tied the game at 1-1 just over one minute later.
Dominic Garozzo scored six goals and AJ Matlack added two as Washington Township defeated Shawnee 11-8 in a shootout at Pennsauken Skate Zone in the first round of the Flyers Cup. CJ Castorina added four assists for the Minutemen as they will now play Salesianum in the next round. The teams combined for 10 goals in the first period, with Township missing starting goalie Kyle Rink. Ryan Feast and Ian Plummer led Shawnee with two goals each.
Matt Hall scored on the power play midway through the third period to snap a 2-2 game and give Cherokee JVA a 3-2 win over Moorestown in playoff action played at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Sunday night. Mike O’Connell had given Moorestown an early 1-0 lead scoring in the opening minute of the game. Goals by Pete Cerria and Bryan Lafferty just over one minute apart gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead. Moorestown would get the only goal of the second period from Kevin Hillman just forty three seconds in and we were tied at 2-2.
The Cherokee Chiefs took some time out from their busy hockey schedule to take on the Virtua Wings of Steel in a sled hockey game on Sunday at Voorhees Skate Zone. The Chiefs got into sleds for the first time and skated against the Wings in an effort to raise some money for the sled hockey team. With the Flyers Cup starting this week and JVA playoffs last night the Chiefs showed up with 14 players and Coach Scott McKay and Matt Pinto to attempt sled hockey and experience what these kids do. RJ Conrad, senior goalie for Cherokee was outstanding in nets as the Wings peppered him with shots.
A perfect example of getting hot at the right time the Williamstown Braves struggled most of the season winning just three games, but come tournament time they went 4-0 as they defeated Egg Harbor Township 7-6 in the Tier IB finals. Two third period goals by Tristan Hofstrom were the difference for the Braves. Williamstown built a 4-2 lead after one period on goals by Jesse Cave, Justin Fortuna and two goals by Dennis Campbell. EHT got goals from Salvatore Bergeron and Christian Raymond.
