SJIceHockey.com Player Profile

Chris Rainey is our latest player we are featuring and is the starting goalie for Washington Township. Chris is fourth in the league in goals against average at 2.48, second in the league in save percentage (minimum 100 shots), and is the main reason for Townships strong surge after a sluggish start as his 10-3-1 record indicates he has stood out on a team that has at times struggled to score goals. Pittsburgh Penguin star Sydney Crosby is Chris’ favorite NHL player and his most memorable hockey moment is getting a shutout in his first travel game. With Township having won back-to-back titles, and Joe Scafisi playing strong in nets, it was tough to crack the lineup and not playing in the playoffs last year or the Flyers Cup was a huge disappointment to this fierce competitor. Chris would like to see the fighting penalty reduced from five games.

When not playing hockey, Chris enjoys pizza, rap music and movies, including The Butterfly Effect, which he lists as his favorite. With his dad being the person he admires most, Chris feels that if he had been permitted to play football when he was younger, he probably would not be playing hockey. Luckily, for Township he is playing and doing it at a high level. Not surprising, he lists Clearview as the team he looks forward to playing the most, especially since this heated rivalry usually packs the rink at Hollydell. Once Chris finishes college, he looks forward to starting his life as an accountant and starting a family.
