SJIceHockey.com Player Profile

There are quite a few players in the league that has the ability to take control of a game with not only their skills, but also with their leadership. Matt Bozman plays left wing for the Lenape Indians and is one of those players that falls into that category. “There is one rule I would like to change and that rule would be to add a second overtime period and then go to a shootout like in the NHL”. Lenape has been playing extremely well this season and Matt has been enjoying the success he as been having. He leads his teams in goals scored and assists. When asked which team he looks forward to playing against, he mentioned Delran and the New York Rangers.

With plans of playing in the AHL or NHL in five years, Matt has demonstrated his abilities on the ice especially against the Bears from Delran. In Lenape’s 5-3 victory earlier in the season against Delran, he recorded three goals and an assist. At the start of the third period, Lenape held a 3-2 lead against the Bears but Delran would tie the game four minutes into the period. Matt would set up the go ahead goal on an assist to Tommy Burns. Five minutes later and with Lenape trying to kill off a Delran power play, Matt’s short-handed goal would seal the win for Lenape. Against Timber Creek, he scored three of the four goals scored as they shut out the Chargers and then recorded a natural hat trick against the Chiefs from Cherokee.

You would think that defeating Delran would be his favorite ice hockey moment. It would be playing up one level in a Canadian tournament and scoring the winning goal that tops his list. That deciding goal was scored with one second remaining on the clock with the goalie pulled and the extra player on the ice. Matt’s worst hockey moment was in a playoff game when he was hit so hard, he had to sit for awhile before returning to the game. That wasn’t against Delran, was it?

Matt is a person who has met the singer JayZ and could be found listening to hip hop and he loves to eat a juicy steak. His favorite NHL player is Alex Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals and admires the actor Mark Wahlberg for all of his accomplishments. Matt lists “The Departed” as his favorite movie starring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DeCaprio and Matt Damon and one of his career plans is to own his own business. He finds riding quads in the park a great deal of fun especially with his Dad and his brother, but he really gets a rush when he’s able to take that quad to the race track and experience its speed and power.
