SJIceHockey.com Player Profile

The response to our player profile feature has been well received by the league and we would like to thank those coaches and players who have sent in their profiles. This is an avenue allowing the coaches to recognize players for their accomplishments both on and off the rink. Next on our list to profile is Zachary Zadjeika. Zach plays right wing for Cinnaminson and has been a four year starter for the Pirates. He initially began his hockey career on roller skates and after buying his own set of ice skates, he tried out for Cinnaminson as an eighth grader and made the team. Now in his senior season, Zach has fought back from injuries just like his favorite player Mark Recchi.

With the highlight of his high school career was against Delran when he scored four goals just coming back from a broken arm. Determination like that allowed Cinnaminson to leap from Tier II to Tier I this season. Last year, the Pirates finish in first place in Tier II with a 14-0-4 record at the end of the regular season. This year, Zach continues to play hard on the ice even after suffering another major injury on a check from behind and missing two months. But the one rule he would like to see changed is the hooking call…using a stick as a hook to slow an opponent, no contact is required under new standards.

Zach is real close with his Granddad and he considers him more like a dad. When not eating Mexican food or listening to alternative rock, you might find him at the video store renting Boondock Saints, a film where Willem Dafoe played peculiar detectives which was released in 1999. Dafoe is also played the psychotic Green Goblin in the Spider-Man film series. When Zach graduates from high school, he plan on attending college and hopes to pursue a career in sports management, and continue to play hockey for fun..
