As we begin 2015 and head towards the playoffs let’s take a look at the division leaders and where they should finish: American Division: Washington Township has a 3 point lead with two games in hand and has winnable games against Shawnee, EEW and HLV. They would seem to be in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the division. Cherokee is still the 4 time champ and needs to get there offense going if they want a 5th title. Clearview has proved they can play with anybody and could surprise here depending on the goaltending. Moorestown has struggled within the division going 1-6-1.

John Yedman had three goals and David Shore added two to lead Moorestown to an easy 8-1 win in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Black Horse lone goal came in the opening three minutes as Jeremy Wallace would score his second goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. Moorestown would tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Chris DeRose and just over one minute later DeRose would get his first of five assists on the night when Brandon Eberly connected on his fifth of the year and Moorestown led 2-1.

Jake Pearlstein had three goals and Cody Charyk added two as Shawnee held off Black Horse 6-5. Charyk scored the only goal of the first period for Shawnee as they led just 1-0, but Pearlstein scored two straight goals in the first three minutes of the second period and the lead was 3-0. Brandon Graham would score two straight for Black Horse to make it 3-2 at the nine minute mark. Pearlstein was awarded a penalty shot one minute later and his third goal of the game had Shawnee up 4-2. Charyk added a power play goal in the final two minutes to give Shawnee a 5-2 lead after two.

Shaun Savvas stopped all 27 shots as HLV defeated Black Horse 5-0, for their third straight win. Coming off Friday nights upset win over Mainland, HLV continued their strong play tonight getting two goals from Sam Belanger and capitalizing on the man advantage. After a scoreless first period, Belanger opened the scoring in the first thirty four seconds of the period. The lead stood at just 1-0 until late in the period when Black Horse committed back-to-back penalties and HLV capitalized. First Justin Vadino scored an unassisted power play goal, his first of the season and the lead was 2-0.

Washington Township having scored just 13 goals in five games, exploded last night for eight goals in defeating Black Horse 8-2 at Hollydell. Chris Cozzan led the scoring with four goals. Black Horse led briefly in the opening period as Brandon Graham scored from a tough angle, his eighth goal of the year. Township responded twenty four seconds later with Cozzan getting his first of the night on a shot from the slot. Eric Sailor and Jarrett Wharton getting the assists. Right after the face-off Township scored again as Donovan Haslett would get his first of the season on some hard work in front of the net. Despite dominating in shots at 18-2 after one period the score was just 2-1.

Black Horse evened its record on the season to 3-3-2 with a 4-1 win over Williamstown on Friday night at Hollydell. Zachary Kelly scored the only goal of the opening period as he converted a pass from Zach Faust in the final three minutes for a 1-0 lead. Mike Barbella scored his second goal of the season at the two minute mark of the second period to make it 2-0.

Clearview scored four goals in the first seven minutes of the third period to break open the game against Black Horse and win going away at 6-2. The View out-shot Black Horse 36-9, and despite being held scoreless in the first period, started off the second period early as Matt Manzo scored in the opening minutes to put the View up 1-0. And at the nine minute mark Clearview took advantage on the power play as Kyle McGovern scored his second goal of the season to give the View a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.

Scott Veneziale scored a power play goal early in the third period to lift Black Horse into a 2-2 game with Mainland. Neither team would score in the first period and Mainland led 2-0 on goals by Mackenzie Restle and Zachary Robbins with Restle scoring in the opening minute and Robbins scoring at the nine minute mark.

Cherokee trailed 2-0 early into the second period against Black Horse before storming from behind to win 4-2 in JVA action. Matthew Marchese scored both goals for Black Horse. After scoring the only goal of the first period, Marchese made it 2-0 just two minutes into the second period and Black Horse seemed to be in control. But Cherokee would capitalize on a power play with just over three minutes left in the period and just over one minute later Eric Ziegler got the equalizer and we were tied at 2-2 entering the final period.

Christopher Kilcourse had two goals and Scott Veneziale added a goal and two assists as Black Horse defeated Cinnaminson 6-2 in late action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Friday night. Black Horse jumped out to a 2- lead after one period on goals by Veneziale and Kilcourse just one minute into the game. Cinnaminson would survive that start thanks to the play of goalie Matt Concowich. After a scoreless second period, Cinnaminson cut the lead to 2-1 as Duke Madara scored in the opening two minutes.
