Cherokee Chiefs Articles 2018-2019
Cherokee used a four goal second period to propel them to a 4-1 win against the Williamstown Braves in SJHSHL action played at Voorhees. After a scoreless first period in which the teams split eight penalties, the Chiefs took control in the second led by captain Jeremy Ambrose. With Williamstown on the power play from a carryover penalty late in the first, Ambrose scored short-handed at the thirty-three second mark to put the Chiefs ahead 1-0. Connor Ray would get his first of the season just about thirty seconds later and the lead was 2-0.

Jeremy Ambrose scored three goals and assisted on four others as Cherokee pulled past Washington Township 9-3 in Tier I action at Hollydell. Sam Libetti and Brendan Forrest added two goals each for the Chiefs. Andrew McGinley led Township scoring twice. The teams were tied at 2-2 after the first period, after Libetti scored a short-handed goal in the first three minutes, Township would score on the same power play advantage fourteen seconds later and we were knotted at 1-1. McGinley gave Township their only lead of the night at the seven minute mark, but Jake Frankenfield tied the game at 2-2 scoring a power play goal in the final minute of the period.
Jake Frankenfield and Sam Berger each scored two goals as Cherokee had little trouble in defeating Kingsway 8-0 in late game action played in Voorhees. The Dragons only had 9 skaters and were outshot 48-5. The Chiefs put up three in the opening period with Frankenfield opening the scoring just three minutes into the game. Goals by Jack Ellis and Jake Kelley four minutes apart had the lead to 3-0 after one. Berger would get his first of the night at the eight minute mark of the second period and nineteen seconds later Jeremy Ambrose get his sixth goal of the season and the Chiefs had a 5-0 lead.
Jake Kelley and Mike Andes each had a natural hat trick as Cherokee defeated Egg Harbor Township 7-0 last night in Voorhees. Jeremy Ambrose had a goal and five assists for the Chiefs. Kelley scored the first three goals of the game, all coming in the first three minutes as Cherokee took control early jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Ambrose assisted on two of the goals before scoring his goal late in the period as the Chiefs took a 4-0 lead into the second period. Andes would score the only two goals of the period, both coming in the first two minutes of the period and forty three seconds apart to push the lead to 6-0.
Cherokee built a 4-0 lead early into the third period and had to hold off a hard charging Moorestown team as the Chiefs opened defense of their title with a 4-3 win over the Quakes in a rare Wednesday night contest at Voorhees. Sam Libetti led the Chiefs offense with two goals. Colin Devine and Jeremy Ambrose scored first period goals for Cherokee just over one minute apart as the Chiefs led 2-0 after one period. Libetti scored the only goal of the second period on a feed from Ambrose and the Chiefs took a 3-0 lead into the third period.
