Rocco McCullen scored early in the first overtime as Clearview defeated Kingsway 2-1 in the JVB Championship game played in Voorhees. Kingsway had taken a 1-0 lead into the third period with the lone goal coming short-handed late in the first period from Dylan Casey. Clearview would tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by AJ Nocito five minutes into the third period. Clearview would have a power play opportunity with about five minutes left in regulation, but failed to capitalize. Early into the overtime, McCullen would bury his chance and the View would celebrate their victory. Congratulations to the Clearview staff on their win.

Hunter Fratttaroli stopped 28 shots as Clearview hung on to defeat Mainland 3-2 in JVB action played at the Igloo in Mt Laurel. After a scoreless first period, Clearview broke out on top with AJ Nocito scoring at the five-minute mark and a 1-0 lead. Marc Arsenis would tie the score at 1-1 for Mainland scoring less than four minutes later. Cooper Yeager would give Clearview a 2-1 lead scoring with less than four minutes left in the period. Vincent Marco would give Clearview some breathing room as he scored five minutes into the third period and the View led 3-1.

Trailing 3-1 with three minutes left in the third period, Cherry Hill scored twice in the final two minutes to tie the game, then one in the first two minutes of overtime as they defeated Clearview 4-3 and clinched the Tier 2 Championship, their fourth in a row. Mario Leone scored the only goal of the first period as Clearview led 1-0. Midway through the second period Hunter Colella made it 2-0 and the View, despite being outshot, looked to take that lead into the third period, but Elliott Schon would get the first of his two on the night with just 38 seconds left in the period and suddenly it was 2-1. Thomas Rockey would restore the two-goal lead for Clearview at the six-minute mark and a 3-1 lead.

Needing a win to force a deciding game and playing on the road, Cherry Hill East faced a tough task, but they responded carrying the play for the first two periods as they defeated Clearview 3-2 in front of a packed house at Hollydell. Putting to rest the myth that East fans won’t travel, the crowd was pretty equal as far as turnout. East dominated the first period in shots at 15-8 and took a 1-0 lead with less than four minutes left in the period as John Gallen was able to get one by Logan Graham. The View would respond exactly three minutes later with Mario Leone bursting in on Brice Sullivan and his shot tied the score at 1-1.

We are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. The tradition continues here at SJIceHockey as we honor the best of 2019-2020 season in the SJHSHL. The awards will be presented prior to Game 1 of the Championship round for Tier I this Friday, February 28 at Hollydell Ice Arena. Listed below are this year’s recipients:

Clearview jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period and skated past Cherry Hill East 7-1 in Tier II action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Goals by Nick Zane and Connor Reagan in the first five minutes gave the View a 2-0 lead. Thomas Rockey made it 3-0 at the eight-minute mark, then with a chance to get one back on the power play, East would give up a short-handed goal in the final minute of the period as Mario Leone scored and the lead was 4-0. Leone would score his second of the night early in the second period as Clearview capitalized on the power play to increase the lead to 5-0.

Trailing 4-3 late in the third period Clearview would get the tying goal from Thomas Rockey on the power play and then the game winning goal from Gavin Reagan in overtime, again on the power play as the View defeated Mainland 5-4 in Tier II playoff action at Voorhees. Rockey would score the lone goal of the first period as the View led 1-0. Robert Conlan and Owen Haugan would give Mainland a 2-1 lead scoring goals in the first four minutes of the second period. Steve Lento would tie the game at 2-2 for the View scoring at the seven-minute mark. Just fifteen seconds later the View took the lead as Mario Leone scored.

The game started out with high electricity in front of a packed house at the Skate Zone in Voorhees and by the end of the game, which Cherokee won 3-1, the crowd was down to just parents and a few students. Both teams came out with high energy and emotion as the teams combined for 29 shots in the first period with both goalies, Keith MacGregor for Shawnee and Andrew Lavdas for Cherokee, on top of their game. The lone goal of the period came from Thomas Caputo as his shot from the slot just trickled past Lavdas and a 1-0 lead.

Konnor Savvas and Thomas Rockey each scored two goals as Clearview opened its playoff run with a 10-0 win over PPACS. The View scored five goals in the first period and never looked back. Vincent Marco opened the scoring just two minutes in as his shot from deep found the net. Hunter Colella would deflect a point shot by Steven Lento midway through the period and a 2-0 lead. Goals by Rockey, Savvas and Robert Gehringer had the lead to 5-0 after one period.

Goals by Brady Swain, Tyler Brosius and Ralph Triboletti powered Team Giroux to a 3-0 lead in the first period and strong goaltending helped Team Giroux defeat Team Oskar 4- 2 in the 2019-2020 Junior-Senior Showcase game played in Voorhees. Team Giroux led by Coach Amon from Cherry Hill and Coach Vulpio from Clearview never trailed as Swain and Brosius scored moments apart for a 2-0 lead. Triboletti made it 3-0 from down low, as Team Giroux was out to make a statement. Erika Nolfi got the start in nets for Team Giroux and was strong in goal. Corey Owens put Team Oskar on the board late in the period to cut the lead to 3-1. Midway through the second period Kristian Massanova would bring Team Oskar to within 3-2 scoring from the slot.
