Hughes was named MVP as he did not surrender a goal in both games he started. Anthony DelleRose from Clearview led the tournament in scoring. Hughes got the start as he has had success against Township this year only giving up one goal during the regular season to the Minutemen. Having lost to Township last week for the Tier I title, Coach Volpio told his team to play their game and forget about last week and play hard, keep skating and good things will happen.

Anthony DelleRose opened the scoring two minutes into the game Kyle McGovern added a power play goal four minutes later and the View led 2-0. Township played defensive hockey and only allowed 13 shots for the night with Mason Gagne getting the lone goal on a power play. After a scoreless first period with neither team wanting to make a mistake, Pollock scored just over one minute into the second period with Mark Di Renzo getting the assist. Each year, we are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. In the continuing tradition here at SJIcehockey we are pleased to announce the 2014-2015 award winners:
Clearview got two goals from Robert Penrod and played a smothering game defensively as they defeated Cherokee 3-1 in the playoff opener for both teams. Clearly the View’s game plan was evident and that was to concentrate on shutting down the league’s top player in Boomer Miller and clog his passing lane as he looks to create opportunities. Penrod gave the View a 1-0 lead midway through the first period scoring on the power play as he put home a shot by Matt Manzo. Penrod made it 2-0 early in the second period scoring a short-handed goal on great hustle by Anthony Dellerose. Stealing the puck at center ice, Dellerose broke in all alone and after being stopped, he stuck with the play and found Penrod in front who deposited his second goal into the net.
Kingsway got two goals each from Matt Smith and Dom Salerno as they defeated Clearview III 5-3 in Olympic playoff action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The loss ended the season for Clearview III. The View jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Mike DeFelice in the opening minutes and one by Connor Ennis at the eight minute mark. Kingsway would get goals from Salerno and Smith in the final two minutes to tie the game at 2-2 after one period.
