Trailing 3-0 after two periods the Braves rallied with four in the third period and tied Egg Harbor Township 4-4 in action played at Hollydell. Goals by Mike Bernetto in the first and Phillip Kovalevsky and Dennis Haney in the second had EHT up 3-0 after two. Early in the third with Williamstown on the power play, Nick Scardusio connected to make it 3-1. One minute later Jesse Cave got the first of his two on the night to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Kingsway built a 6-1 lead after two periods and had to hang on as Egg Harbor Township scored six goals in the third period but fell short in a 9-7 game. Dominic Salerno had a hat trick for Kingsway and Christian Raymond had a natural hat trick for EHT. The teams traded power play goals in the first period with Matt Kudless giving Kingsway a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game and Phillip Kovalevsky scoring late to tie the game at 1-1 after one. Kingsway seemingly took control in the second period scoring five unanswered goals, three in the first two minutes with Vincenzo Salerno, Joe Bene and Kevin Carr lighting the lamp. Bene would add his second of the night on the power play at the six minute mark and the lead was 5-1. Vincenzo would get his second of the night midway through the period and the lead grew to 6-1.

Christian Raymond had two goals and two assists and Phillip Kovalevsky added two goals as Egg Harbor defeated Williamstown 6-1 in Tier I action at the Skate Zone. Williamstown did not generate much offense as they only had 9 shots on goal, with Ken Denneny scoring a power play goal for the Braves. Kovalevsky scored the lone goal of the opening period at the six minute mark as the game was just 1-0 after one. Egg Harbor would put up three goals in the second period with Raymond scoring in the opening minute to make it 2-0.

With the start of the 2015-2016 SJHSHL season on September 25th, the league and its president Mike Pontonio are trying to bring purity back to the league. In hockey terms purity is defined as all the players on your team go to the same school, plain and simple. With the rising costs and some many travel teams available, playing for your high school doesn’t mean as much as it used to. Although for a core group, it still has some meaning.
