A perfect example of getting hot at the right time the Williamstown Braves struggled most of the season winning just three games, but come tournament time they went 4-0 as they defeated Egg Harbor Township 7-6 in the Tier IB finals. Two third period goals by Tristan Hofstrom were the difference for the Braves. Williamstown built a 4-2 lead after one period on goals by Jesse Cave, Justin Fortuna and two goals by Dennis Campbell. EHT got goals from Salvatore Bergeron and Christian Raymond.

Sal Bergeron and Jacob Feliciano each scored two goals and Christian Raymond added one goal and three assists as Egg Harbor Township stayed alive in the Tier IB tournament with a 6-1 win over Kingsway. EHT would score a goal in the final thirty seconds of the first period as Bergeron connected for his first of the playoffs. Early in the second period Bergeron made it 2-0 with Raymond and Darren Hewitt assisting. Goals by Ryan Robertson and Feliciano four minutes apart had the lead to 4-0 after two periods.
Justin Fortuna scored at the seven minute mark of the third period to break a 1-1 game as Williamstown defeated Egg Harbor Township 2-1 in playoff action in Voorhees on Monday night. After a scoreless first period Shawn McKelvey gave the Braves a 1-0 lead at the four minute mark of the second period. Less than three minutes later Ryan Robertson’s shot from the blue line would get the equalizer for EHT, as he picked a great time to score his first goal of the year. Moments later, EHT would have a power play opportunity, but Jake Cahill, who stopped 19 shots on the night, kept EHT off the board.
In the continuing tradition here at SJIceHockey, we are pleased to announce the 2017-2018 award winners. We had many players that had a standout year which made it difficult to narrow down and in one category we actually picked two players to share the honors. Congratulations to all. The presentations will be prior to game 1 of the Championship round at Voorhees.
Shawnee is making its first appearance in recent memory and Moorestown finds itself the top seed after a 15-1-2 season. The games are scheduled to be played starting on March 12th as Cherokee will host DMA at 8:45 at Voorhees Skate Zone. Moorestown will begin play on Tuesday March 13th at Voorhees at 7:00. Kyle Peters scored one minute into the overtime period as Team Simmonds rallied from a three goal deficit to defeat Team Giroux 9-8 in the Junior-Senior Showcase game held at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Max Kuznetsov led Team Giroux with six goals. Dominic Garrozzo had three goals and four assists and Kyle Peters added a hat trick for Team Simmonds. Luke Dobbs opened the scoring giving Team Giroux the early 1-0 lead. Dennis Campbell tied the game at 1-1 at the five minute mark.
The 2017-2018 SJHSHL draft for the Junior-Senior Showcase game was conducted on Tuesday night as the coaches for Team Simmonds and Team Giroux gathered to make their selections. Team Giroux, who will be coached by Daryl Sporer from Moorestown and assisted by Scott Busler from Cherry Hill East won the toss and selected Max Kuznetsov from Eastern with their first pick. Team Simmonds who will be coached by Scott McKay from Cherokee and assisted by John Francis from Kingsway selected Dominic Garrozzo from Washington Township. The nominees for the 2017-2018 Junior/Senior Showcase game have been released. The game will be played on Wednesday, February 7th at the Voorhees Skate Zone at 7:05. Tickets are $5. Head coach from Moorestown will team with head coach from Cherry Hill East to oppose head coach from Cherokee who will team with head coach from Kingsway. Max Kuznetsov scored six goals and had three assists and Connor Riley added a hat trick as Eastern skated to a 12-2 win over Egg Harbor Township. The Vikings scored six goals in the opening period with Kuznetsov getting a natural hat trick as he scored the first three goals of the game in a five minute span. Riley would make it 4-0 at the nine minute mark, before EHT would get on the board on a goal by Blaze Tonni. Riley and Kuznetsov would score goals twenty six seconds apart in the closing moments of the period and the Vikings led 6-1 after one.
Moorestown got balanced scoring once again as they stayed unbeaten with a 4-3 win over Egg Harbor Township in late game action at the Skate Zone. Four different players would score for the Quake as they improved to 9-0-2 on the season and sit alone atop the Tier I division. Will Eigenrauch and Zachary Marzo would give Moorestown a 2-0 lead after one period. The goal was Eigenrauch’s first of the season. Jacob Feliciano would get the only goal of the second period as EHT cut the lead to 2-1 after two. William Bahnak would tie the game at 2-2 three minutes into the third period, with his sixth of the year. Moorestown would bounce back scoring two goals in just under one minute.
