I watched a coach have his team gather around a television that had been rolled into the gym. I was thinking, they're about to watch some game film, boy was I wrong! This coach pulls out the "Insanity" DVD. The issue, as I see is it is this, the head coach will let their team know how important any aspect of their program is by how much attention they give to it. Case in point, when a coach is going over an offense or defense, do you honestly believe they would pop in a DVD to show the team? I don't believe so, that coach would be teaching, interacting with their team. They would be encouraging cajoling doing things that coaches do.

Zach Robins scored five goals as Mainland rallied from a two goal deficit to defeat Black Horse 6-5 in the JVB Title game played at Voorhees. Trailing 3-1, Mainland scored five unanswered goals to take a 6-3 lead, before Black Horse rallied back. Scott Veneziale and Nick Finocchiaro scored in the opening nine minutes to give Black Horse a 2-0 lead. Mainland got one back late in the period as Robins scored with Tim Vant getting the first of his three assists. Kevin Oneill scored at the five minute mark of the second period to give Black Horse a 3-1 advantage. Mainland then would score four goals in the next six minutes to capture a 5-3 lead after two. Robins would account for three of them and Frank Christy got the other.

Matt Cloud had three goals and Brian Miller added two as Team Briere defeated team Giroux 11-2 last night at Hollydell. The game was close after two periods but Team Briere blew the game open with six goals in the third period. Brandon Mead scored twice for Team Giroux. This year the league supplied jerseys and socks to each player. And Joe Walters supplied both teams with hoodies as well.

Nick Taylor had two goals and Ian Martin made 29 saves as Riverfront defeated Mainland 5-2 to win the Tier III Title. Winning wire to wire like they did Riverfront led the division all season and went undefeated in the tournament. Mainland took a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game as Paddy McFadden scored his first of the playoffs. Riverfront responded thirty seconds later as Taylor tied the score. Taylor would score late in the period to give Riverfront a 2-1 lead after one.

In a crazy third period where five goals were scored in the last five minutes Mainland held on to defeat St Joe’s 6-5 in a Tier III battle to open up the action at the Skate Zone. With the loss St Joe’s was eliminated from the playoffs. Mainland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Sean Bowman and one on the power play by Josh Handshaw. St Joe’s would rally late in the period as Nick Frangos found Paulie Petrongolo in the slot with just over one minute left in the period. And with just 12 seconds left Tristen Ridarelli tied the score at 2-2.

Jeff Steinmann had a natural hat trick and Ian Martin stopped 39 shots as Riverfront defeated Mainland 7-2 in the double elimination tournament in Tier III. Mainland broke on top first as Carmine Morelli scored on the power play with less than five minutes left in the first period. Riverfront would respond as Steinmann scored two goals in twenty six seconds in the final three minutes to make it 2-1 after one. Early in the second period Steinmann completed his hat trick to give Riverfront a 3-1 lead just two minutes into the period. Goals by Mike McFadden and Matt Gajderowicz gave Riverfront a commanding 5-1 advantage after two.
