Matt Cozzan scored twice and Dominic Newman stopped all 14 shots as Mainland defeated Shawnee 5-0 in the late game at Voorhees on Monday night. The win improved Mainland’s record to 9-0-2 and was their sixth straight victory. Cozzan scored the lone goal of the first period at the one minute mark with Josh Handshaw getting the assist. Nate Harring made it 2-0 early in the second period with Zach Robbins and Brad Kienzle.

What ever happened to that line?? “With all due respect”? Or, more simply put, whatever happened to respect? Having covered this league for 15 years now, you hear a lot of talk back and forth. Mostly it is just that, talk, chatter, harmless banter just shy of being aggressive or outright rude. Sometimes, though, it seems players lose sight of the fact that the referees are there for a reason. They are part of the game. Are they always right? No. Will they change their mind if you argue and curse at them about the call? Heck no. I have never seen a ref change his call after a player argues his case over a penalty that he believed he did not commit.

Sean Bowman scored his first two goals of the season as Mainland coasted to a 6-1 victory over Cinnaminson and improved its record to 4-0-2 in the Olympic Conference. With the game played at Hollydell on Friday night in front of a sparse crowd, neither team would score in the first period.

Tyler Richardson scored with one second left on the clock as Clearview came back and tied Mainland 2-2 in action at the Skate Zone on Monday evening. After a scoreless first period, Mainland got the lone goal of the second period with McKenzie Restle notching his second goal of the season for a 1-0 Mainland lead. Mike Cullen tied the score at 1-1 five minutes into the third period with Erik Lauk and Anthony Dellerose getting the assists.

Dominick Newman stopped all 26 shots and Mainland used a 3 goal second period to defeat HLV 3-0 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Robby Lemons notched his second goal of the season to give Mainland a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Goals by Nat Harring and Tyler Wan less than one minute apart late in the period put Mainland up 3-0 after two.

Nick Manning and Tim Vant scored four goals each as Mainland defeated Lower Cape May 9-1 in the Tier III opener for both teams. Mainland used a five goal first period to take control of the game with Vant scoring twice and Robby Lemons once to give Mainland a 3-0 lead eight minutes into the game. Lower Cape May got on the board Karlson Hughes scoring an unassisted goal with under four minutes remaining in the period to cut the lead to 3-1. Two goals by Manning, one minute apart in the final two minutes put Mainland up 5-1 and they never looked back.
