St Joe’s defeated Mainland 13-4 to win the JVB Championship in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. St Joe’s scored five goals in the first period to take control of the game and never looked back. Varsity forward Deaglan Kelly led the offense scoring six goals, Cooper Root added four goals. Mainland was led by James Murray with two goals. Robert Davis, Zachary Dean and Vincent Sabato also scored for St Joe’s.

Mainland rallied from a 5-2 deficit early in the third period scoring four straight goals, three coming on the power play as they defeated HLV 6-5 and reached the JVB Championship game. The first period was all Mainland as they led 2-0 on goals by Owen Haugan and Jim Murray. The second period was all HLV as they tallied four goals, with Rob Pensabene, Daniel Flagg, Julian Jiminez and Daniel Plunkett scored and took a 4-2 lead into the third period. Nick Garbarino scored in the first minute to push the lead to 5-2 and HLV seemed in control.

HLV fired forty-seven shots and built a 6-0 lead through two periods as they went on to defeat Mainland 6-2 in a Tier II elimination game. Tyler Gray led the offense with two goals. HLV will now meet Clearview with the winner moving on to play Cherry Hill East. HLV jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Brady Swain in the first minute of the game and Gray scoring four minutes later for a 2-0 lead. Midway through the period HLV capitalized on the power play as Sam Swain scored to make it 3-0.

We are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. The tradition continues here at SJIceHockey as we honor the best of 2018-2019 season in the SJHSHL. Ross Higgins stopped all 17 shots and Thomas Rockey’s power play goal in the second period stood up as Clearview defeated Mainland 1-0 in the opening round playoff game for the View. After a scoreless first period, Clearview went on the power play the opening minute of the second period and Rockey wasted little time in giving the View a 1-0 lead. Higgins was tested at the five minute mark as Mainland would have a two man advantage for just over one minute but could not get one by Higgins.

Jake Frankenfield scored eighteen seconds into overtime to give Team Simmonds a 5-4 win over Team Giroux in the Junior-Senior showcase game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Frankenfield had two goals on the night and won the game’s MVP, donated and presented by Training Aspects Ki Vaks and Rob Jost. Team Giroux took a 2-0n lead on goals by Austin Wilk and Sam Libetti. Team Simmonds would respond with goals from Ryan Feist late in the first period and seconds later a tying goal by Anthony Poppalardo. Team Simmonds would take a 3-2 lead as Mike Liberty from Mainland would score in the second period.

The draft was held last night for the Junior-Senior Showcase game which will be held this Sunday night at the SkateZone in Voorhees at 7:25. Coach McKay from Cherokee won the right to pick first and he choose Jeremy Ambrose. Coach Glick selected Sam Libetti; it was the first time that two players from the same team, Cherokee were picked first by each team. Listed below in order are the teams, Team Simmonds is Coach McKay and Team Giroux is Coach Glick:

The nominees for the 2018-2019 Junior-Senior Showcase game have been released. The game will be played on Sunday, January 27th at the Voorhees Skate Zone at 7:00. Tickets are $5. On Thursday, January 24th we will conduct a live draft on SJIceHockey.com beginning at 7:00. The coaches will be Scott McKay from Cherokee and Mike Glick from Washington Township. Each coach must select at least one player from each team. Please come out and support these players! Congratulations to all the nominees. Here are your 2018-2019 nominees...

Thomas Rockey scored two goals as Clearview had little trouble in skating by Mainland 7-1 in a rare Wednesday night game at Hollydell. The View jumped out to a 2-0 lead just two minutes into the game. First Lue Froio would get his second goal of the season just thirty three seconds into the game. Just over one minute later Connor Reagan would give the View a 2-0 lead as the freshman scored his fifth of the season.

Anthony Santa Maria and Ralph Triboletti each scored four goals and Mainland jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period on their way to a 9-1 win over Riverfront in action played at Voorhees. After Jack Hassett scored in the opening two minutes to give Mainland a 1-0 lead, Santa Maria scored twice in a ninety second span to push the lead to 3-0 five minutes into the game. Midway through the period Triboletti would score a short-handed goal and power play goal less than ninety seconds apart and Mainland led 5-0. Santa Maria scored the only goal of the second period as Mainland led 6-0.

St Joe’s built a 6-2 lead after two periods and held on for a 6-4 win over Mainland as Chris Corsaro scored two goals. Anthony Santa Maria led Mainland with a hat trick. Santa Maria opened the scoring four minutes into the game as Mainland took a 1-0 lead. St Joe’s would get goals from Corsaro and Cooper Root thirty nine seconds apart to take a 2-1 lead at the nine minute mark. Mainland would tie the game at 2-2 less than one minute later on a goal by Derek Michael, but Ryan Laserre scored late in the period to give St Joe’s a 3-2 advantage after one period.
