Stephen San Martin stopped all 38 shots as River front defeated St Joe’s 1-0 in action played at Hollydell. Isaac Viereck scored the only goal of the game late in the first period and San Martin made that stand despite six power play opportunities and a two-man advantage early in the third period.

Seven different players scored for Clearview as they defeated Riverfront 7-2 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Riverfront got outshot 38-11 as Clearview has started off 2014 scoring 19 goals in two games, winning both and needs to keep the momentum going as they try and make up some ground in the standings. Eric Lauk scored the only goal of the first period as Clearview led just 1-0. Dylan Richardson tied the game at 1-1 scoring an early goal for Riverfront in the second period.

What ever happened to that line?? “With all due respect”? Or, more simply put, whatever happened to respect? Having covered this league for 15 years now, you hear a lot of talk back and forth. Mostly it is just that, talk, chatter, harmless banter just shy of being aggressive or outright rude. Sometimes, though, it seems players lose sight of the fact that the referees are there for a reason. They are part of the game. Are they always right? No. Will they change their mind if you argue and curse at them about the call? Heck no. I have never seen a ref change his call after a player argues his case over a penalty that he believed he did not commit.

Scott Veneziale scored twice in the third period as Black Horse edged Riverfront 5-4 in a back and forth match up played at Hollydell on Friday night. With the win Black Horse moved to within one point of first place in the National division. Dylan Richardson had a hat trick for Riverfront. Black Horse scored first in the opening period as Rich Brusco blistering shot found the top corner for a 1-0 lead, it was the first of two for Brusco.

In their first game since upsetting Cherokee, Riverfront kept the winning attitude going as five different players scored to pace Riverfront to a 5-4 win over HLV. Alex Mastrokyriakos scored two goals to lead HLV. In a wild first period where the teams combined for seven goals, Riverfront never trailed. Nicholas Taylor opened the scoring just fifteen seconds into the game. Sam Belanger would tie the game at 1-1 three minutes later scoring his team high 13th goal.

Stephen San Martin stopped 35 shots as Riverfront upset Cherokee 3-2 in action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Riverfront never trailed in the game jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, first Adam Peed scored a power play goal midway through the period. Then with Cherokee on the man advantage, Dylan Richardson scored a short-handed goal to give Riverfront a 2-0 lead after one period. After Robert Bell made it 3-0 early in the second period, Cherokee captain Brian Miller, who logged a ton of ice time, was determined on the Cherokee power play and his hard work led to a goal by Thomas Janus that cut the deficit to 3-1.

Matthew Grosmick scored three goals and Colin Valentine added two as Washington Township defeated River Front 8-3 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Leading 2-0 after one period on goals by Grosmick and Valentine, Township took a penalty early in the second period and River front capitalized as Rocco Demas scored on the power play to cut the deficit to 2-1.Valentine responded just nineteen seconds later as he scored a nice goal down low to put Township up 3-1.

Luke Hussey scored his second goal of the night with just thirty eight seconds left to snap a 3-3 game and give EEW a thrilling 4-3 win over River front in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Hussey scored his first goal in the opening minute of the game as the EEW led 1-0. Riverfront did not record a shot on goal until the nine minute mark, but Dylan Richardson made it count as he scored his sixth goal of the season to even the game at 1-1.

Isaac Viereck scored two of his three goals in the first period as Riverfront jumped out to a 5-0 lead and went on to defeat Shawnee 8-2 at the Voorhees Skate Zone on Monday evening. Adam Peed added two goals for Riverfront and Cody Charyk scored both Shawnee goals. Peed opened the scoring at the four minute mark scoring his third of the season and Riverfront led 1-0. Viereck would tally the next two goals ninety seconds apart and the lead was 3-0. Peed would assist on Sean Conard’s third of the season to make it 4-0 and Zachary Banks would add the fifth goal in the final minute to give Riverfront a comfortable 5-0 lead after one.
