We are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. The tradition continues here at SJIceHockey as we honor the best of 2018-2019 season in the SJHSHL. Nine different players scored goals for Cherry Hill East as they opened their first round playoff game with a 10-0 win against Riverfront in late game action at Voorhees on Monday night. The Cougars used a six goal second period to break open the game leading just 2-0 after one period on goals by Sean McKenna on the power play and Tristan Laperriere, Cherry Hill score early and often in the second stanza. Ben Isakovich connected at the three minute mark to make it 3-0 and less than one minute later Brian Cutler scored to make it 4-0. Forty-three seconds later Tom Papa would get the first of two on the night and a 5-0 lead.

Jake Frankenfield scored eighteen seconds into overtime to give Team Simmonds a 5-4 win over Team Giroux in the Junior-Senior showcase game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Frankenfield had two goals on the night and won the game’s MVP, donated and presented by Training Aspects Ki Vaks and Rob Jost. Team Giroux took a 2-0n lead on goals by Austin Wilk and Sam Libetti. Team Simmonds would respond with goals from Ryan Feist late in the first period and seconds later a tying goal by Anthony Poppalardo. Team Simmonds would take a 3-2 lead as Mike Liberty from Mainland would score in the second period.

The draft was held last night for the Junior-Senior Showcase game which will be held this Sunday night at the SkateZone in Voorhees at 7:25. Coach McKay from Cherokee won the right to pick first and he choose Jeremy Ambrose. Coach Glick selected Sam Libetti; it was the first time that two players from the same team, Cherokee were picked first by each team. Listed below in order are the teams, Team Simmonds is Coach McKay and Team Giroux is Coach Glick:

The nominees for the 2018-2019 Junior-Senior Showcase game have been released. The game will be played on Sunday, January 27th at the Voorhees Skate Zone at 7:00. Tickets are $5. On Thursday, January 24th we will conduct a live draft on SJIceHockey.com beginning at 7:00. The coaches will be Scott McKay from Cherokee and Mike Glick from Washington Township. Each coach must select at least one player from each team. Please come out and support these players! Congratulations to all the nominees. Here are your 2018-2019 nominees...

Chase Dyar had a hat trick and Clearview scored six power play goals as they handled Riverfront 9-3 in Tier II action at Hollydell. The View jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on a power play goal by Steve Lento in the opening ninety seconds and then four minutes later Brendan Bainbridge would get his second of the season. Riverfront would rally as Andrew Hehl would score a power play goal at the six minute mark and then less than three minutes later Hehl would tie the game at 2-2, again on the power play, the goals were the first for the senior forward.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third period St Joe’s took advantage on their power play opportunities, scoring twice with the man advantage and defeated Riverfront 3-2. The loss kept the Raiders winless on the season. Robert Diehm gave St Joe’s a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the contest scoring the only goal of the first period. St Joe’s outshot Riverfront 10-8, but failed on their one power play opportunity. Riverfront would score twice in the second period with the goals coming just ninety seconds apart.

St. Joe’s scored four goals in the opening period and went on to defeat Riverfront 6-2 in Tier II action played at Hollydell. Cooper Root led the offense with two goals. Logan Rutt added a goal and three assists. Chris Corsaro gave St Joe’s a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game. We stayed that way until the nine minute mark when Root and Rutt scored goals thirteen seconds apart to put St Joe’s up 3-0. Ryan Laserre would push the lead to 4-0 late in the period as St Joe’s seemed in control after one period.

Aaron Sphuler scored three goals and Eli Howey added two as Clearview had little trouble in defeating Riverfront 8-2 as they played the late game in Voorhees on Monday evening. The View wasted little time as they scored in the opening minute as Connor Reagan scored his second goal of the season. Brennen McCarty tied the game at 1- 1 for Riverfront midway through the period. The View would get late goals from Sphuler and Chase Dyar and take a 3-1 lead into the second period. Sphuler would connect on the power play at the ten minute mark to push the lead to 4-1. Howey would get his first of the night two minutes later and Sphuler would complete his hat trick in the final seconds for a 6-1 advantage heading into the third period.

Anthony Santa Maria and Ralph Triboletti each scored four goals and Mainland jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period on their way to a 9-1 win over Riverfront in action played at Voorhees. After Jack Hassett scored in the opening two minutes to give Mainland a 1-0 lead, Santa Maria scored twice in a ninety second span to push the lead to 3-0 five minutes into the game. Midway through the period Triboletti would score a short-handed goal and power play goal less than ninety seconds apart and Mainland led 5-0. Santa Maria scored the only goal of the second period as Mainland led 6-0.
