Shawnee Renegades 2012-2013 Articles
I watched a coach have his team gather around a television that had been rolled into the gym. I was thinking, they're about to watch some game film, boy was I wrong! This coach pulls out the "Insanity" DVD. The issue, as I see is it is this, the head coach will let their team know how important any aspect of their program is by how much attention they give to it. Case in point, when a coach is going over an offense or defense, do you honestly believe they would pop in a DVD to show the team? I don't believe so, that coach would be teaching, interacting with their team. They would be encouraging cajoling doing things that coaches do.

With the season officially over, just wanted to get some random thoughts off my mind and maybe tie up some loose ends…
Matt Cloud had three goals and Brian Miller added two as Team Briere defeated team Giroux 11-2 last night at Hollydell. The game was close after two periods but Team Briere blew the game open with six goals in the third period. Brandon Mead scored twice for Team Giroux. This year the league supplied jerseys and socks to each player. And Joe Walters supplied both teams with hoodies as well.
We are leaving it up to you. Go to our Poll Questions page and help us select this year's Leadership Award which will be presented before the Junior-Senior Showcase. Two seniors from each Tier I team was selected by their coaches to be represented in letting the fans vote for their Leadership recipient. The voting will end on Tuesday, February 26th at midnight. Your final vote will determine who wins the Leadership Award.
Once again SJIceHockey.com is pleased to announce our annual award recipients. This year there seemed to be more balance throughout the league and with the playoffs upon us we could be in for a few surprises. Listed below are the 2012-2013 winners:
Doug Sanders scored twice as Washington Township pulled away from Shawnee 5-0 and advanced in the playoffs and will meet Moorestown with a chance to get back to the finals. Township had 5 power play chances in the first period; twice they had a 2 man advantage and would only capitalize once as Sanders scored at the seven minute mark. Shawnee goalie Gavin Hambrose saved his best performance for tonight as Township launched 44 shots on net.
Mike Katz and Eric Schwartz each scored two goals as Moorestown opened their playoff run with a 5-0 win over Shawnee. Robert Papotto stopped all 20 shots in nets for Moorestown. Papotto’s best period was the second as Shawnee had four power play opportunities but failed to connect on any advantage.
Moorestown, H/L/V and Riverfront all enter the double elimination Tournament as the top seeds, however it’s not where you start but how you finish. Let’s take a look at each Tier:
Casey Forte scored four goals as Cherokee defeated Shawnee 7-0 in Tier I action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Boomer Miller opened the scoring in the first minute of the game lifting a shot on the short side with Jake Toran and Austin Mauger getting the assists. Forte would score the next three goals, his first at the five minute mark of the period with Cole Zucker and Brian Miller getting the helpers.
Macklin Kaiser had three goals and Lawrence Walker added two as Shawnee defeated Cinnaminson 8-1 in early action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. James Popp scored the lone Cinnaminson goal. Shawnee dominated the first period as they launched 24 shots while scoring three times. Alex Churchill got things going just one minute into the game with Kaiser and Jake Pearlstein getting the helpers.
