Eddie Sarin scored four goals as Washington Township skated through West Deptford 8-1 at Hollydell in a South Division game. The only mistake Township made occurred in the first two minutes as the defenseman fell down which created a breakaway for Brad Asselta, and his goal gave West Deptford a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game. After that Township, scored the next eight goals. Sarin tied the score at 1-1, as Garrett Quinn won a face-off and right from the slot Sarin found the net to tie the game. Moments later Louie DeAngelo scored the first of his two goals to give Township a 2-1 lead after the first period.

Dante Fleagle scored twice and Louie DeAngelo had a goal and two assists as Washington Township got by Eastern 6-2 in the last game for both teams in 2008. DeAngelo scored just one minute into the game for a 1-0 lead and you had a feeling that Township might run away with the game. Eastern however came back and tied the score at 1-1 as Drew Woods got the equalizer midway through the period. Late in the period Jonathan Paulo gave Township the lead for good scoring an unassisted goal. Dylan Smith scored a back-breaking goal in the last seven seconds to put Township up 3-1.

Washington Township had no trouble in defeating Seneca 14-2 on Friday night, as four players led the way with two goals each. It’s difficult enough playing Township and the depth they have this year, and Seneca came tonight with only seven players, which gave them no chance. Jonathan Paulo, Matt Fleekop, Louie DeAngelo and Mike Nigro led the scoring frenzy for Township scoring two goals each. Other players that scored for Township included Eddie Sarin, Ryan Carr, John Rey, Mike Magee, Jonathan Smith and Garrett Quinn. Freshman goalie DJ Mark got his first start of the season for Township and had a shut out until the final minutes when Scott Parker and Ryan Deitrich scored for Seneca.

Heading into their toughest test of the season Washington Township responded with a resounding 8-3 win over Shawnee at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. With the talk being about the stronger North Division for most of the season, Township showed they are a team to be talked about when discussions involve the playoffs and in particular the finals. As they have had for most of the season, balanced scoring was once again evident as Louie DeAngelo and Dylan Smith scored two goals each and four other players scored goals for the first place Minutemen.

Mike Nigro scored four goals as Washington Township defeated Moorestown 8-2 in the late game at Voorhees on Monday night. Fellow line mates Matt Fleekop with one goal and four assists and Eddie Sarin with a goal and two assists helped Township win its tenth game of the season. Mike Eni and Alex Hashmi scored the Moorestown goals. Township led 3-1 after the first period on goals by Nigro, Fleekop and Jonathan Paulo, with Paulo scoring in the final seconds for a two goal lead.

Cinnaminson scored three goals in the third period and defeated Washington Township 6-4 and hand the Minutemen their first loss of the season. Township had jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and looked in control but Cinnaminson kept their composure, got stellar goaltending from Kevin Roth after the first period and kept chipping away. Roth struggled early as he seemed to be too far back in his net as Township scored three times in five minutes on goals by Jonathan Paulo, John Rey and a power play goal by Chris Lyons.

Eddie Sarin had two goals and two assists and Mike Nigro added two goals and one assist to lead the Washington Township Minutemen to a 7-0 win over the Braves from Williamstown. Mike Stoever stopped all 20 shots for Township as they remain unbeaten and have a commanding seven point lead in the South Division. Nigro scored his first goal just nine seconds into the game and Township led 1-0. But that would be the only goal of the first period as Williamstown goalie would stop 14 shots, while his offense could only generate 2 shots on net.

Louie DeAngelo had three goals and six other players lit the lamp as Washington Township had no problem in defeating Cherry Hill East 9-0 in a game played at Hollydell. Jonathan Paulo added a goal and four assists for Township. Heading into the season Coach Macchione had a roster of only 6 seniors out of 22 players and was counting on contributions from all his lines. After eight games Township has seven players in the top eighteen, led by senior Matt Fleekop who has already surpassed last years’ point total and leads his team with eleven goals. Tonight Fleekop got his team going early as he scored a power play goal with Eddie Sarin getting the assist.

Frank Garvey scored five goals as Cherokee defeated Timber Creek 9-3 at the Igloo. Leading just 2-1 after the first period on goals by Garvey and Mike Ligeikis, Cherokee erupted for five goals in the second period, with three coming late in the period in a span of two minutes. After Garvey scored to make it 3-1, Nate Price got Timber Creek to within 3-2 seconds later.

Dante Fleagle and Matt Fleekop each had a hat trick as Washington Township rolled over West Deptford 11-1 at Hollydell. Leading just 1-0 heading into the second period on a goal by Fleekop, the game seem to turn when West Deptford’s’ Matt Asselta was awarded a penalty shot early in the period. With a chance to tie the game, Asselta skated in and tried to fake out goalie Mike Stoever, but Stoever held his ground and Asselta had nothing to shoot at that stop sparked Township. On the very next play Township scored as Fleagle got his first and suddenly it was 2-0. Fifteen seconds later Fleagle made it 3-0 picking up a loose puck in the slot.
