The SJHSHL will hold the Junior/Senior Showcase game on Wednesday February 3rd at 8:30 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. There will be a live draft on Thursday January 28th at 7:00 on our web site announcing the selections. There will be 15 forwards, 6 defenseman and 3 goalies selected for each team. Also 3 alternates will be picked in case a selected player cannot make the game. Each team must have at least one player selected. Please come out on Wednesday night and support these players. Nick Frangos scored four goals, including the tying goal with seven minutes left in the game as St Joe’s rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie Washington Township 5-5 in action played at Hollydell. Joe Crincoli gave Township a 1-0 lead as he put home a rebound of a shot by Joe Ricchezza for the only goal of the first period. Jeff Horner made it 2-0 early in the second period and just about one minute later Alex Marcucci gave Township a 3-0 scoring his fourth of the year with Eric Sailor and Ricchezza getting the assists.
Zachary Faust had three goals as Black Horse built a 4-0 lead and went on to defeat Washington Township 6-3 in Tier 1 action played in Voorhees. Faust and Jeffrey Leap scored first period goals for Black Horse to lead 2-0 after one period. A power play goal by Kyle Ringhesier and Faust’s second of the night in the first four minutes of the second period saw the lead grow to 4-0. Township would break through at the eleven minute mark with Mark DiRenzo getting his first of two on the night to make it 4-1.
Joe Crincolli and Jared Mara each scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Cherokee 8-2 in SJHSHL play at Hollydell on Friday night. With the win Township moved back into first place and has a one point lead over Moorestown. After a scoreless first period Township took advantage of the man advantage as Jarret Strickon would deflect a point shot by Mara into the net for a 1-0 lead five minutes into the period. Just about three minutes later, Crincolli would get his first of the night again on the power play and the lead was 2-0.
Black Horse scored two goals in the third period to rally from a 2-1 deficit and beat Washington Township 3-2 in JVA action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Zachary Williber scored a short-handed goal, his second of the season, to give Black Horse a 1-0 lead. Township would score two goals four minutes apart to take the lead. First Steven Kanakaris tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal. Moments later Township grabbed the lead at 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Robert McKinley.
Nate Smith scored three goals, for the second time in the last three games, as Clearview defeated Washington Township 5-4 in JVA action played in Voorhees on Sunday evening. Smith scored 3 goals against Township the last time the two teams met on November 29th. Jake Sholders gave Clearview a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game. Smith added his first of the night at the twelve minute mark and the View led 2-0 after one period. Smith connected for his second goal of the night just twenty nine seconds into the second period and the lead was 3-0. Township would respond scoring two goals in a span of two minutes. First Joe Urban scored at the one minute mark to make it 3-1. Then on the power play, Frank Borgesi would get the first of two on the night to cut the lead to 3-2.
Mario Leone scored two goals and AJ Colela stopped 26 shots as Washington Township defeated Moorestown 5-2 and moved back into first place, one point ahead of Cherokee. Jared Mara gave Township a 1-0 lead after one period scoring his team high 14th of the season. Goals by Leone and Jeffrey Horner thirty-nine second apart at the eight minute mark of the second period put Township up 3-0. Twenty eight seconds later Moorestown had an opportunity to close the gap on the power play, but Jarrett Wharton scored a short-handed goal to put Township up 4-0 heading into the final period.
Moorestown built a 3-0 lead and held off Washington Township 3-2 in Tier I action played at the Skate Zone. With the win Moorestown improved to 5-1-1 and moved to within two points of first place Cherokee. David Shore scored the lone goal of the first period as Moorestown led 1-0 after one. Robert Widish scored his second goal of the year in the opening seconds of the second period and a 2-0 lead for the Quakes. After Daniel Bianco scored a power play goal midway through the period to give Moorestown a 3-0 lead, Township would get back in the game as they capitalized on the man advantage.
Scott Veneziale scored two goals and Dylan Ringheiser stopped 27 shots as Black Horse upset Washington Township 4-1 in a rare Wednesday night game at Hollydell. Ringheiser was strong in nets and gave up few rebounds and improved his record to 2-1-1 on the season and had his GAA drop to 1.75. Township suffered just its second loss on the season. Veneziale put Black Horse up 1-0, scoring a short-handed goal with just over two minutes left in the opening period. Less than one minute later Austin Cole was pulled down from behind on another breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot.
Donovan Haslett scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Shawnee 4-2 in action played in Voorhees. With the win Township improved to 5-1-1 on the season. With the addition of Jared Mara on his line, Haslett has seen his offensive chances rise, and he is taking advantage of the opportunities. Shawnee jumped out to a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game as Tyler Feast would score the first of his two goals on the evening. Haslett would tie the game at 1-1 late in the period with Eric Sailor and Jarett Wharton getting the assists.
