Black Horse had four players score two goals each as they eliminated Williamstown from the playoffs with an 11-1 win at Hollydell on Friday evening. Scott Veneziale, Kyle Ringheiser, Brandon Graham and Austin Cole each scored twice to lead the attack. Scoring three goals in the first three minutes set the pace for the rout with Ringheiser, Veneziale and Connor Laserre getting the goals. Cole and Veneziale scored late in the period to give Black Horse a 5-0 lead after one. Graham made it 6-0 with five minutes left in the second period, but right off the face-off Williamstown got on the board as TJ Mason scored to make it 6-1.

Each year, we are pleased with the league allowing us to recognize several players and a coach and their outstanding contributions they have made for their team. With at least two to three players considered for each category, we have finalized our decision. Chris Cozzan from Washington Township had a hat trick and Sam Amon from EEW added two goals as Team Simmonds defeated Team Giroux 9-5 in the Junior-Senior Showcase game played before a packed house at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Despite out-shooting Team Simmonds by 48-35, Team Giroux could not overcome the five goal first period. Before we were settled in our seats it was 3-0 in the first two minutes. Cozzan, playing on a line with teammate Brandon Balsama, who assisted on all three Cozzan goals, got things going on their first shift, Scott Veneziale, from Black Horse deflected a shot by Shawnee’s Alex Churchill and the lead was 2-0.

Aiden Rogers stopped all 29 shots and Trevor Rucci scored goals as St Joe’s had little trouble in defeating Williamstown 10-0 in action played in Voorhees on Monday night. Goals by Rucci and one each by Paul Petrongolo and Dan McCloskey gave St Joe’s a 3-0 lead after one period. They broke the game open in the middle period scoring four goals, with Rucci scoring two goals fifteen seconds apart. Kevin Troy and Jordan Ciocco also connected in the period and the lead was 7-0 after two.

For the second consecutive year, a live draft was held to select the teams for the upcoming Junior Senior Showcase game to be held Friday, February 6th at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Team Giroux was selected by Cherokee Coach McKay and Riverfront Coach D’Amato and Team Simmonds were selected by Washington Township Coach Glick and EEW Coach Pontonio. Team Giroux won the coin toss and selected Boomer Miller, Team Simmonds went with Cris Cozzan. Here are the rest of the players selected by team:

Nick Ramos and Cole Dyar each scored two goals and Clearview built a 4-0 lead on their way to a 7-3 win over Williamstown in action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Clearview jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period on goals by Robert Penrod, Dyar and two by Ramos. Williamstown got one back in the last minute of the period as Collin Miller scored on the power play. The Braves continued to rally as goals by Drew Murtha and TJ Mason got them to within 4-3. Clearview had a golden opportunity to regain the momentum as they had a two man advantage for a full two minutes and failed to capitalize.

Christian Katsanos scored his first goals as a varsity player, and he did it in style scoring a hat trick as Cherokee pulled away from Williamstown 10-4 in action played at the Skate Zone. Scoreless in his previous games this season Katsanos picked a great time to break out with Cherokee missing 2 of its top scorers. Cody Roescher led the Braves with two goals. Cherokee led just 3-2 after one period and just 5-3 after two. Williamstown pulled to within 5-4 in the opening minute of the third period on Roescher’s second of the night, but Kyle Horner scored on a breakaway to restore the two goal lead at 6-4.

The nominees have been announced for the 2014-2015 Junior/ Senior Showcase game for the SJHSHL. Each team will have at least one player representing their club. The head coach from Washington Township, EEW and St Joe’s will coach one squad. The other squad will have the head coach from Cherokee, Mainland and Riverfront. Once again we will do a live draft on Thursday, January 29th at approximately 7:00PM. Each team will consist of 12 forwards, 6 defenseman and 3 goalies. In case some players cannot make the game, 3 alternates will be selected for each squad. The game will be played on Friday, February 6th at Skate Zone in Voorhees at 8:05PM. Congratulations to all the nominees!!

Kyle Ringheiser scored three goals and Zachary Faust added a goal and two assists as Black Horse rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Williamstown 4-2 in National division action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Cody Roescher put Williamstown up 1-0 four minutes into the game notching his fifth goal of the season. Drew Murtha made it 2-0 scoring his team leading eighth goal of the year in the final seconds of the period and Williamstown led 2-0 after one.

As we begin 2015 and head towards the playoffs let’s take a look at the division leaders and where they should finish: American Division: Washington Township has a 3 point lead with two games in hand and has winnable games against Shawnee, EEW and HLV. They would seem to be in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the division. Cherokee is still the 4 time champ and needs to get there offense going if they want a 5th title. Clearview has proved they can play with anybody and could surprise here depending on the goaltending. Moorestown has struggled within the division going 1-6-1.
