Egg Harbor Township built a 5-0 lead through two periods and held off a charging Williamstown team and defeated the Braves 6-3 in late game action at Hollydell. The loss ended the season for Williamstown. Blaze Tommi led EHT with two goals. EHT took control with a three goal first period with Tommi scoring just thirty six seconds into the game. Four minutes later EHT would capitalize on the power play as Zachary Feliciano scored and the lead was 2-0. Just over two minutes later Tommi made it 3-0 as EHT was clicking offensively, launching 12 shots in the period and back-checking and limited the Braves to just four shots.
Robert Falese scored two goals as Shawnee defeated Williamstown 4-1 in the opening round of the double elimination tournament played in Voorhees on Monday evening. Falese opened the scoring with Williamstown on the power play, less than five minutes into the first period. The short-handed goal gave Shawnee the early 1-0 lead. Falese would make it 2-0 late in the period with David Hoftiezer getting the assist. Williamstown would have three opportunities on the power play but could not get one past Shay Perry.
Jake Frankenfield scored eighteen seconds into overtime to give Team Simmonds a 5-4 win over Team Giroux in the Junior-Senior showcase game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees last night. Don’t look now but the hard charging Minutemen of Washington Township after defeating Williamstown 5-1 have now won seven games in a row and is the hottest team heading into the playoffs. These two teams met just twelve days ago in a penalty filled game so tonight we had veteran referee Bob Teti, who prior to the game addressed both teams and delivered a strong message, nothing would be tolerated just play hockey, and his partner was Laura White, another experienced and international referee. I would say message received as we had just 5 penalties and all to Township. Giovanni Torrie gave Township a 1-0 lead scoring his fifth goal of the season with just under four minutes left in the opening period. Later in the period Mike Guarracino on a nice breakout pass by Matt Kennedy would make it 2-0 with CJ Castorina getting the other assist.
The Eastern Vikings would score seven goals in the second period, three coming from senior forward Max Kuznetsov, as they went on to defeat the Williamstown Braves 10-3 last night at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The Vikings were short-handed in nets and junior forward Vincent Roustas stepped up and made the start in nets and got his first varsity win! The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period with Kristopher Zappata giving the Vikings an early 1-0 lead, but the Braves getting the tying goal on the power play from Dylan Gurovich late in the period. Zappata would get his second of the night one minute into the second period and less than one minute later senior forward Conor Riley would score his team high 20th of the season to give the Vikings a 3-1 lead.
Since being elevated to play on the top line, sophomore forward Jack Ellis has produced especially tonight as he recorded a hat trick to pace Cherokee over Williamstown 10-0 in Friday night action played at Hollydell. Mike Andes and Jake Kelley added two goals each and Jeremy Ambrose added a goal and three assists. Andes and Kelley scored goals eight seconds apart early in the first period as the Chiefs took a 2-0 lead. Two late goals in the period, one by Ellis and the other by Dustin Patterson, both coming with the Chiefs down a man, had the lead to 4-0.
