As we begin our 12 season covering the SJHSIHL, we have seen many changes over the years some good, some questionable. This year they have decided to forgo the two divisions and have all 13 teams in one division. Did the league take the summer off and take the easy way out?? Coming off a year that saw the return of the All Star game, North vs. South, which by the way was very successful as well as entertaining. Why throw all the teams in one division??
Let’s assume I was aligning the league, just for a second. The first thing I would do would be to form a competition committee, to decide how we move forward, try and have as many competitive games as possible. There would be 2 Divisions; one would comprise Moorestown, Shawnee, Washington Township, Cinnaminson, Cherokee and Clearview. The other division would be Delran, Lenape, Rancocas Valley, Cherry Hill East, Holy Cross, Eastern and Seneca.
Each team would play each other 3 times and balance out the schedule with a few cross-over games. Keeping this new set-up, to me could lead to many blow-outs, which are not fun to watch and make’s writing about it even worse. I can see 40-50 games that will be decided by 5 or more goals.
So if you are listening SJHSIHL or at least reading, go back to the drawing table and come up with a better layout!!
