Ben Tice stopped all 32 shots and Eric Simone scored two goals as Cherry Hill East got their first win of the season in defeating Clearview 5-0. East jumped out early as Sam Kaufman converted on a feed from Simone just three minutes into the game, scoring from down low on the short side. Clearview had a chance to tie the game late in the period as they were on the power play, but Tyler Caton, set-up behind the net found Simone in front and his shot went through the five-hole and East led 2-0 heading into the second period.

Midway through the second period Simone shot the puck from a tough angle in the corner and somehow the puck found the net and East led 3-0. Meanwhile Tice was stopping all the shots and seemed to control the rebounds and Clearview could not sustain an offensive attack. Once again East scored late in the period on the power play as Ross Bryan tallied with Caton getting his third assist of the game and the lead was 4-0. Tice again shut down Clearview and heading into the third period East was cruising at 4-0.

Simone ended his night with a nice pass from behind the net to a wide open Danny Desrochers, and his one-timer made it 5-0. East ran its record to 1-1-1 and Tice had the league’s first shutout of the season.
