Trailing 3-1 late in the second period Cherokee would score the next four goals and defeat Moorestown 5-3 in the first game of 2016. The Chiefs launched 32 shots at Moorestown goalie Dominic Romeo while Moorestown could only muster 16. The Quakes took a 1-0 lead in the first scoring on the power play as Brian Santosuosso would get credit for his fifth of the season. Nick Campbell would score his first varsity goal early in the second period and the game was tied at 1-1. David Shore and Brett Seifried would give the Quakes a 3-1 lead late in the period. Cherokee’s Johnny Butkus would cut the lead to 3-2 with just over one minute left in the period as his blast from the point through a screen would beat Romeo.
Jeremy Ambrose would connect on his eighth goal of the season early in the third period to tie the game at 3-3. Two minutes later Trevor Ligeikis would give the Chiefs the lead for good scoring his fourth goal of the year and despite 10 penalties, Cherokee now had the lead at 4-3. Moorestown could only generate three shots in the period and a late power play goal by Anthony Salvatore iced the game for the Chiefs.
