Robert Penrod’s second goal of the night with less than four minutes left in the game snapped a 4-4 tie and gave Clearview a 5-4 win over Mainland. The View jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Penrod and Joshua Tabar, as Mainland seemed a bit sluggish to start the game. The second period began with Clearview on the power play and a chance to build on their lead, but it was Mainland that responded scoring two short-handed goals. First Gage Grist intercepted a pass and scored on a break to make it 2-1 then just over one minute later, Brendan Blight would tie the game at 2-2 and suddenly Mainland had a jump in their step.
Chase Dyar would deflect a shot by Andrew Sphuler from the circle to put Clearview ahead at 3-2 midway through the second period. Mackenzie Restle would get the first of his two goals on the night late in the period, this one on the power play and we were tied at 3-3 heading into the third period. Restle would put home a rebound of a shot by Gajge Hopkins to give Mainland its first lead at 4-3 just two minutes into the third. The View would tie the game at 4-4 on a goal by Colin Hughes, his first of the season with just under six minutes left. Penrod would score about two minutes later as the View retook the lead. Mainland could not get the equalizer and ended the game with two men in the penalty box.
