Joe Carfagno scored three goals and a dominating second period led Cinnaminson over Williamstown 7-3 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The win was the third straight for Cinnaminson. Jonathan Ruiz led Williamstown with two goals. The teams traded goals in the first period as Rich Busch scored for Williamstown and Eric McDowell scored the first of his two goals on the power play. Early in the second period Cinnaminson dominated play early as they kept the puck in the offensive zone in the opening minutes and took the lead as McDowell tallied his second at the thirteen minute mark.

Andrew Heinz scored with less than one minute left in the game as Rancocas Valley rallied to tie Eastern at 6-6 in a game played at the Igloo. Darren Plotkin led Eastern with three goals; Andrew Fleming had a hand on all six goals with five assists and one goal, John Czarnick scored twice for RV. Eastern led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Plotkin and Sam Seigledorf sandwiched around one by Czarnick. The Vikings took a 4-1 lead scoring two goals about ninety seconds apart early in the second period. First, Nicky Bascou scored the first of his two goals on the evening, to make it 3-1 then Plotkin put home his second of the night and the lead was 4-1.
Dylan Smith scored three goals and Eddie Sarin added three as Washington Township had little problem in a 9-1 win over Lenape. Kyle Young scored the lone Lenape goal. The hat trick was the first for the senior forward in his varsity career and with just three goals coming into the game; he saw his goals double for the year. Township was in control from the opening seconds as Sarin scored just thirty seconds in for a 1-0 lead. Louie DeAngelo and Smith would each score about one minute apart midway through the period as the lead grew to 3-0.
Coming off two straight losses and only averaging two goals in each of those defeats, Williamstown found some offense last night as Jonathan Ruiz scored four goals to lead Williamstown to an 8-5 win over Clearview. Bob Campbell led Clearview with three goals. Rich Busch added two for Williamstown. After spotting Clearview a 1-0 lead on a goal by Rob Savastano eight seconds into the game, Busch tied the score four minutes later poking home a loose puck. Ruiz gave the Braves a 2-1 lead with a blast from the slot and moments later would find the net from the top of the circle.
Eddie Sarin had four goals and two assists and Louie DeAngelo added two goals and four assists as Washington Township defeated Eastern 8-4 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Township jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back. This was a game where Eastern could have made a statement, proving that they are one of the top teams, entering the game averaging over 7 goals a game and the top goal scorer in Billy Bascou. The Vikings never got anything going consistently on offend and Bascou was held to just one assist.
These games are always exciting, because you don't who is going to show up for either team. The Cherokee Chiefs and the Moorestown Quakers like to play each other feisty and hard and this game didn't let me down. After getting thumped by the Chiefs the first time they played this season, it looked as if Moorestown came to play this game.
Troy Altbaum stopped 37 shots as the Williamstown Braves defeated Cinnaminson 5-3 at Hollydell. The win was the seventh out of their last eight games and after starting the season 1-4, Williamstown has improved its record to 8-5. Balanced scoring and solid goaltending has guided the Braves through this streak. Five different players scored last night, with Jonathan Ruiz getting his team high 14th goal early in the period with Allan Haynes assisting. That goal gave Jonathan bragging rights as his older brother Tom, scored 13 goals in his sophomore season.
Sean Fleming scored five times and Clearview surrendered four short-handed goals as Rancocas Valley edged Clearview 8-7 in SJHSIHL play at Hollydell. With the win RV evened its record at 6-6; Clearview is still searching for their first win. Ed Moore led Clearview with three goals. The story of this game was RV’s ability to create scoring opportunities while being a man down, and Clearview unable to generate much offense with the man advantage.
Tyler Woyshner scored three goals as; including a short-handed goal with three minutes left in the game as Moorestown came away with a 6-3 win against Holy Cross in action played at the Igloo. Woyshner and Alec Nicolai scored first period goals to give Moorestown a 2-0 lead, with Cory Pedersen assisting on both goals. Pat Rushmore recorded his first varsity point assisting on Nicolai’s goal. Nick Cyr scored a short-handed goal for Holy Cross five minutes into the second period to cut the lead in half at 2-1.
Scott Parker scored four goals and Vincent Tascione added three as Shawnee flew past Clearview 11-2 in SJHSIHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Trailing 2-1 after the first period, Shawnee would score 10 goals over the final thirty minutes with 6 coming in the third period. Despite out-shooting Clearview 19-9 in the first period, Shawnee trailed 2-1 as Rob Savastano and Bob Campbell scored for Clearview sandwiched around a goal by Steve Nagy for Shawnee.
