Kenny Weightman scored with four seconds left in the game to snap a 3-3 tie and give Middle Township a thrilling 4-3 victory over Lower Cape May. The win was the second in the last three games for the Panthers. Weightman accounted for all the goals for Middle Township and now has 21 on the season to lead his club. Middle Township scored the first two goals of the game with Weightman making it 1-0 at the four minute mark and ninety seconds later he made it 2-0 with Jake Simone getting the assist. Ryan Hill got Lower Cape on the scoreboard at the six minute mark and we headed into the second period with the Panthers up 2-1.

Maxim Kuznetsov and Braden Hawcroft scored two goals each as the Eastern Vikings defeated Middle Township 6-4 in SJHSHL action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The Vikings built a three goal lead and had to hang on in the game’s final minute. Charles DeMarco led Middle Township with two goals. Kuznetsov scored the only goal of the opening period in the final minutes to put Eastern up 1-0.Early in the second period Hawcroft made it 2-0 with Kuznetsov getting the assist.

Kenny Weightman scored two goals and Kyle Roscoe stopped all 19 shots as Middle Township defeated Lower Cape May 4-0 in action played in Atlantic City. The Panthers out shot Lower Cape 35-19 but were held scoreless until the third period. Lower Cape went 0-4 on the power play as Roscoe was tested several times but kept the game tied until the Panther offense got going.

Kristopher Hastings had three goals and four assists and Justin Bryan had three goals and two assists as Cherry Hill rolled over Middle Township 12-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Eric Busler added two goals as Cherry Hill opened with a five goal first period and never looked back. Paul Stryker scored twice for Middle Township. Bryan opened the scoring just three minutes in as Middle Township was down a man. Three minutes later Busler made it 2-0, getting his fifth of the season. Owen McNally would make it 3-0 just two minutes later and Cherry Hill was in control. Goals by Hastings and Bryan just sixteen seconds apart had the lead to 5-0 heading into the second period.

Dom Salerno had four goals and Mike Moss added three as Kingsway rolled to a 14-4 win over Middle Township. Propelled by a seven goal first period Kingsway set a season high in goals in a period and also goals in a game. Ryan Candia and Matt Smith each added two goals for Kingsway, which also received goals from Joseph Bene, Kevin Carr and Antonio Bene. Scoring for Middle Township were Kenny Weightman, Dom, Donoflio, Jacob Seddon and Sydney Couval. Kingsway outshot Middle Township 44-18.

HLV built a 4-0 lead after two periods and went on to defeat Middle Township 4-2 in the league opener for both teams last night in Voorhees. Balanced scoring was the formula for HLV as four different players scored goals, with Patrick Hoffman opening the scoring less than five minutes into the game as his unassisted goal made it 1-0. Less than four minutes later Ryan Barley would make it 2-0 with Alec Warner getting the helper. Goals by Ethan Burrola and a power play goal by Charles Jones Jr saw the lead grow to 4-0 after two periods.

With the start of the 2015-2016 SJHSHL season on September 25th, the league and its president Mike Pontonio are trying to bring purity back to the league. In hockey terms purity is defined as all the players on your team go to the same school, plain and simple. With the rising costs and some many travel teams available, playing for your high school doesn’t mean as much as it used to. Although for a core group, it still has some meaning.
