Tim Ryan scored three goals as Cherokee won the JVA Championship defeating Washington Township 5-3 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Ryan scored both goals of the opening period, the first one just nine seconds into the game, the second short-handed as Shayne Toran sent him in all alone.

Township would trail 3-0 as Tim Connolly scored at the nine minute mark of the second period but just over one minute later Matt Grosmick would cut the deficit to 3-1 scoring an unassisted goal. Then with a chance on the power play late in the period Jimmy Pollock put home a rebound on a shot by Eric Sailor to make it 3-2.

Early in the third period Township had a huge opportunity with a five minute major called and then another two minute minor, so a full 2 man advantage for two minutes. Sailor scored on a blast from the point to tie the game, but that was all Township got. Cherokee would capitalize on their own power play as Bryan Fernandes scored to make it 4-3 with about eight minutes left in the game. Ryan completed his hat trick with his second short-handed goal with less than two minutes left to ice the game. Congratulations to the Chiefs and their coaching staff.
